Forgot that Hamilton was planning to skip this one. Abbott will be racing after all - replacement (one rumour was Luke Davenport?) fell through at last minute so Hunter will be hoping his wife can hold it in until Monday at least.

Current forecast is for a wet one all weekend...

Not the longest trip for me

Absolutely cannot wait, due to my location I only usually get to Knockhill, but this year managed Croft as well. It's one of (if not outright) my favourite day of the year! The weather is to be typically Knockhill-ish. Pouring rain, potential thunderstorms. But I don't care!

We've been lucky with the weather the past few years, so it's about time we got some traditional Scottish drizzle.

Will this be the first wet weekend of the season? Trying to remember back, Brands was sunny, Donington sunny with cloud, Thruxton was sunny I think, Oulton was glorious and although it threatened to rain at Croft it stayed dry all day. Be interesting to see who has the best wet setup.

Would be nice to see Rob Austin climb up the grid a bit, he's had a tough year, but we know Knockhill suits the RWD cars. I'd imagine WSR (and in particular Collard) will be very strong.

Only 2 more days at work

Travelling to Knockhill for our first Scottish BTCC experience, and we are currently wondering how reliable these weather forecasts are?

Metcheck suggests 'Great weather for a BBQ'?! with 'Dry and Windy' for most of the day.... http://www.metcheck.com/UK/dayforeca...3.5&findtype=&

Given that the weather up there can make a swift about-turn every 5 minutes, I'd be prepared for just about everything. I went for an SMRC meeting last year and was told that if you can see the hills, it's going to rain; if you can't, it already is (and it managed to be bloody miserable for most of the day!)

Heading up for the first time since 2000, been far too long!! Does anyone have any idea on how early I'd need to be getting there to get a place on the mound at the entry to the chicane? I seem to remember that being the best viewpoint back when I was a kid. Also what is the parking situation now? I remember we had to park in a farmers field a few miles away and get ferried up to the circuit in dodgy old double decker buses!! Can't wait!!

My favourite BTCC weekend of the year, a long old trek for me but well worth it

BBC weather at the moment suggests showers on Saturday, nice on Sunday so I'm choosing to believe them for now - though as Greem said it can change pretty quickly. Bring waterproofs and suncream....

Parking the last few years has been up on the hill behind the track, and a field beside it. Last year was apparently the biggest attendance since the super touring days, and from where I was parked on the hill it took ages to get out at the end of Sunday, so as well as the above bring some patience as well. Radio Knockhill did a pretty good job of keeping us entertained last year while we waited, to be fair.

As for the racing - hopefully with less ballast the Honda's will have a better weekend, as well as the expected good weekend for the rear drive cars. Can't wait to get out of work tomorrow and on the road North

Met office reporting a dry Saturday and a wet Sunday. Would prefer it that way around. Hoping for a good one.

Speaking of RWD, maybe Palmer's Infiniti can claim another 15th place

The weather on the Met Office site has changed since I woke up today from thunderstorms and pouring rain, to bright sunshine! Welcome to Knockhill's unique weather bubble!

He actually visited his son at Yorkhill, as he was badly scalded by boiling water that same weekend.

You just know Plato will start from the pit lane in Race 1, but even so 22nd!
The BMR's haven't looked very quick in practice in all honesty so the poor qualifying isn't surprising but Plato 22nd is unreal!

I don't think so unfortunately, I'm gutted because I always end up missing it

What's the story with Racing for Heroes? Take it they are no more, Josh doesn't have it on the side of his car anymore:

I think I saw something about this during the week - I'm pretty sure that the Racing For Heroes thing is still going but the branding has moved to just above the sunstrip. Could be wrong but worth checking for a head on view of the car.

He has loads of ballast this weekend, around knockhill it ruins your day.

Plus the track is about as un VW friendly as it could possibly be. Very few long straights or quick sweeping curves. Be interesting to see how quick a time he can set in R1.
