2CV 24h race, Snetterton
Hello all,
I have been asked if I want to join a team for this race in August. I get some practice time (never driven one before), qualifying laps and about 6h driving. Going to be around £700, which seems like a good deal to me. Do people have any experience/comments/thoughts on the race? Is it a laugh? Worth doing? I've not raced for a year or two whilst funds increase and car gets repaired...must be about time I got back in the saddle.... James |

Sounds a good deal. It's great event (though it was better at Mondello Park). Whatever you race, you'll learn something from it - I remember my "45-minute overtaking move" from a few years ago! It is a laugh - but also very character building, such as mechanical failures at 2 in the morning in the rain...

It's an experience like no other, and that's a good price too. Go for it!

There will be teams with vacancies, but it's not immediately clear at the moment which ones.
The best idea is to register on the forum at http://www.2cvracing.org.uk/ and ask about seats available. If the teams see there's interest, they may well run more cars, which would be in everyone's interest! Hollis motorsport are usually quite willing to field an extra car if there are people in need of a drive. |

Speaking of race licences, bring your upgrade card. It doesn't matter if you intend to upgrade or not, but having the words "24hr race" and a corresponding signature on your licence upgrade card is a real nice thing, and a souvenir for the future. Out of all the racers in this country, not many can say they've done a 24hr race |

Do it, its the cheapest 24hr race around! I've been team manager 4 times now, twice with another car and twice with our own(I believe our car was owned by "Graeme" later in life).
You'll regret not doing it! I am too heavy to race in a 1 make series again, so was my Dad when we used to run the car for him! |

Can you race in 86 homologation overalls and underwear, or it must be 2000 homologation?

No idea, but it run under MSA/BARC rules I think - so check those, but I guess more recent homolgation will be required.

I think at the moment, any FIA approved suit is good enough for MSA UK competition. That would include Norme 86.
