Let us be honest

There has not really been a GP since the mid 00's

Croft did a half decent job for a few years with the Superprix getting a few guys over, but those days are largely long gone and were only really done so that rich men could hire cars, making it worthwhile for a few of them to come over.

It needs to be somewhere else to be honest. Lydden or Silverstone.

Silverstone final on 4th October, ticket entry includes FF1600 W/Hayes entry as well. What's the viewing like at the rally cross circuit?

If they have the grandstand at the rallycross circuit like they did for the first event, the viewing is actually pretty decent. The main grumble we all have with the circuit is that it is slow and a bit dull. But linked with another event (assuming FF is Formula Ford?) would be a decent way to spend a day, and good value for money if you're local to the circuit.

Looks like £12 in advance or £15 on the gate, which is pretty reasonable.

If it looks like it's going to be a dry day I'd be tempted, as the circuit was a bit faster and there will (hopefully) be a good race for the Supercar title.

I assume that, if the main circuit is in use, the parking will be as it was for the British round at the start of the year?

Ooops! might gaff, should have said Novemer 4th.
The Walter Hayes Trophy is a great competition between Formula Ford 1600 single seaters held over 2 days in a knockout format. Brilliant wheel to wheel action, no wings or slicks and very basic 1600cc Kent engines with an entry list usually in excess of 100 competitors. Usually all the grandstands on the national circuit are free and you can wander around the pits freely.
It's the first time I believe that the rallycross finals will be held on the Sunday as well so for me it's a bit of no brainer at £12 even with a 5-6 hour round trip, always assuming of course that the weather holds!

I think it could be a struggle to try to take in both events, at round 1, the spectators had to walk or be bused from the main gate to the Stowe Building via Hanger Straight Bridge, and the circuit perimeter road, a fair walk. If they let you cross the international circuit by the new pits, they might be possible. You might just see Becketts from the rear of the Grandstand on the Rallycross track, but it would be a distant view

The first cars to arrive at Silverstone for the rallycross were able to drive over the Hangar Straight bridge and park around the rallycross track: I am hoping they do the same again this time around or, as you say, there could be a lot of waiting/walking to do!

You might also not be able to watch both, they often have two meetings on at Silverstone and there will be separate ticketing for each.

Great apart from 23 Swifts, no doubt split into 2 races each, really should be replaced with something a little more exciting. Sorry, I know its a good series to drive in, but have rarely seen an exciting Swift race, usually one bloke dicks off and the rest are average

Surprisingly the Junior Swifts have provided some of the closest racing this year. I often used to neglect the Junior races as it was normally just one driver leaving everyone else behind, but they were great at both Lydden rounds this year.

Ditto for the BMW MINI class: the increase in numbers (and seemingly well balanced field) has made them a lot more watchable now.

Will be good to see an S1 in action again. Great to see Rooke back behind the wheel of a Supercar (though a cynic might say he is there to assist Ollie!).

Super National looks the weakest entry for me at the moment, hopefully a few more cars will appear in that class before the 4th.

Yes, supernational needs looking at somehow.

Not sure what you do, but it's a discussion that seems to be had routinely and never really solved.

Even in the old days there were very dominant cars, but back then it seemed you could still be happy tooling around in a Fiesta or Escort with the odd chance of getting into an A final. Then came the Evans Micra, the Bellerby Nova to beat it and then the Bellerby Exige and all was lost.

Nowadays, it seems unless you are spending daft money on aClio V6 or an Elise or something you don't have a chance, so few people bother.

It's a shame, as for me it could be the best, most interesting class, it always used to be.

As you say there always were 'Frankenstein' cars that blew everything into the weeds but the depth was there to keep it interesting. The Evans Micra, Wheatley Metro (Judd powered), White Clio (Sodemo Super Touring power) were all beasts - but great to watch (and listen to). I think part of the appeal was the rules were loose enough to allow some real home built engineering specials alongside some more 'plug and play' options. Things like the Sampson V8 rover 200 were great - but I guess that sort of thing isn't allowed now?

Running the super 1600's in with the Supernationals makes sense from a numbers point of view but the fact the the S1600's collect points in both categories seems wrong (so in theory Supernational could be won by a S1600 car). I don't know what sort of budget Corners 206 is run on but that looks to be 'nearly' on the pace - so it can be done.

From the start it was the plan to do first testing and than later in the season race the Audi. But wait until late October?

GCK will field just two cars in South Africa as the third car is too badly damaged to fix in time. Chichiret and Marklund will be driving, Liam will be watching from the sidelines.

Apologies, just realized that I posted the previous story in the wrong thread: I meant to put the information about GCK in the World Rallycross thread!

Final round of the BRX this weekend and the Championship just posted a description as to who needs to finish where to win the title:

Quote:
Originally Posted by British Rallycross Championship Official Facebook

But, the most simple explanation is this:

If Ollie O Donovan is first or second, he will be Champion.

If Julian Godfrey wins, he will be Champion if O'Donovan is third, regardless of where Mark Higgins finishes.

If Higgins wins he cannot be beaten by Godfrey, but would need O'Donovan to be no better than third. Because Higgins and O'Donovan would then have equal points, and both drivers have identical results through the season, Higgins would win the title on the number of drivers beaten in 2018.

Of course, if none of the top three claim victory then things could be more complicated still, but we will keep you updated with the result as soon as it happens.
Thought the above was quite helpful, so I have put it here!
