Frankly speaking who really cares about the GTE-Am winners? That is a class only for a few. Harsh but true!

Whether or not you like the class or not doesn't actually matter, especially since you can't enter a Pro car in ELMS. So the best you can do is enter an Am car, and the Am LM winner was from ELMS, now WEC.
Just FYI: Le Mans 2017 had more Am entries than Pro. So harsh, and completely untrue.

And the Am champs in ELMS get an auto invite for LM. Very valuable at the moment. And JMW have two auto invites, for winning the title and their class at LM.

Think this was already well documented but great to see it confirmed. Wonder who will drive the P2 & P1!

Well, unless Henrik Hedman can convince the FIA that he is not a danger to shipping and get himself upgraded to Silver, he will be back in P2.

You do not see Amateur classes in the Indy 500, Daytona 500, and Monaco Grand Prix. If you want to compete at the biggest motor race in the world, you should be prepared to go up against the best teams in the world.

Sorry man, gotta disagree with you. Privateer and gentleman entries have been the backbone of Le Mans for decades. It's part of what makes the event unique.

While gentleman entries have been the backbone of the LM24 for decades; Pro/Am classes have not been. Someone correct me if I am wrong on this, but I believe the first mandated Pro/Am class did not appear in the LM24 until 2011. I'm fine with rich guys that want to race at the LM24. I just don't see why they should be getting participation trophies.
Also, if they want to race in a Pro/Am class, a very strong P2 is still an option.
