TSR has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Just how big is v8supertaxi's circus NOT THAT BIG

After surfing the net today and mainly OS motorsport sites I notice a VERY big lack of V8 supertaxi news, and no links to Aussie Bernie so called best touring car racing in the world. but there were links to the DTM.
I will say that most of the sites I looked at were European based sites. But still no news on v8 supertaxi.

But my question is Is the V8 SUPERTAXI series big as what Aussie Bernie & VE$A keep telling us how big it is.?????????????????????????????????????????

and you ask that on an english site... interesting?

ive beeen to quite a few aussie sites and what i noticed is a complete lack of inteest in anything other than Formula one. interesting

you should go over to batracer. its a site when you can manage various car racing teams its english. you can do F1 you go do A1 you can do champ cart, you can do BTCC and you can do V8 supercar. interesting

Forda should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Not that big - perhaps that's why nobody bothers to attend races anymore, at least with the so called premier class of motor racing anyway.

Maybe that's why internet forums such as this one are nothing but a former glimpse of what they were (i.e. when 10's of threads a day were posted)

Maybe NASCAR is not what we wanted, although we were told it was what we wanted...

I'd say the current formula is as boring as it's soon to be implosion, but who really cares.

Remember Bathurst is the only race worth watching, but for what now? Who really cares?

And so it goes on...

you mean apart from the record crowds at most venues Forda.

i think the reason people have stopped coming to internet forums is all the pessimistic fans who bag the v8's, why would fans want to come along and put up with that.

I second Peckster. Too many people spend too much time putting **** on the V8SC. If it's so bad, go play golf.

Every crowd is a record crowd. The crowd this year at Winton was noticeably down, but it was still a record.

Nobody believes the crowds are records at every venue and it has gotten to the extent where it is openly ridiculed.

No crowd record true, But I think you will find that the winton inclusion caught a fair few long distance regulars napping, or with other plans, hence the lower crowds, not the V8s. I prefered the "b-pillar" rule much more than the "look but don't touch" rule we seem to have, the spectacle is still the same, just not on TV. The only "bagging" I can do has nothing to do with the cars or series, Its just that the upcoming Bathurst 1000 will be my last for the time being because I have been priced out of it, $900, back in march, got me 2x paddock campsites and 4x four day tickets? I will continue to go to bathurst each year, but this time easter. (providing it improves on this years bimf)

You must have been bored. I must have been equally bored when I googled DTM, googling Australian sites only. I found plenty of stuff about Douglas Transport, Digital Terrain Mapping, etc., but had to really search before I found anything about German Touring Car racing. I don't know what this has told any of us. Maybe that German Touring Car racing isn't big in Australia, and V8 Supercars aren't big news on some OS motorsport sites - but didn't we already know that?

Well there's really very little passion as to who wins I reckon.

With Holden not being allowed to manipulate the regulations as much even if they still have the gurney flap and superior aero etc. there isn't that passion for a Ford win I reckon as there was when Radisich and Ambrose were racing an uphill battle.

It's good that Lowndes is the best at the extremely long so-called 'sprint' races, but maybe the races drag on for too long and V8SA's formats need more starts?

No one wants a cut in races, but does running 400 km of racing each meeting cost more than doing 3 x 20 mins or 2 x 100k races? Would more starts add even more cost?

V8SC must be HUGE. I read yesterday that TC reckons it will overtake Cricket as Oz's second major sport. He feels the AFL might be a bit hard to overtake though

I reckon the crowd from the V8 round in 2000 at Winton was bigger.

Actually it was the biggest crowd they've ever had according to the track itself and not the VE$A figures.

You've got to remember with the moving of the merchandising to the cricket ground & people starting to use the spectator areas on the extension the crowd looks smaller but is actually spread out more but bigger if that makes sense. I spent the weekend driving around in the crowd and it seemed bigger to me.

The biggest crowd I remember was 2000 and I gauge that on how even over the back of the circuit and halfway down the extension, the crowd was several deep from the fence.

And it took a lot longer than 15 minutes to get back onto the Hume.

no trucks including merchandising ones were allowed to leave the premises till 6.00 pm to allow most of the public to get away quicker

What about the converse? In Australia, DTM doesn't exist. Nor does FIA GT, Le Mans, GP2, WTCC....

Yet V8 Supercars are broadcast around the world, including all of europe. More people know about V8 Supercars in england than Australians about the BTCC...

edit: please don't ask me for figures

How exactly do you know that? The casual fans in England would know as much about V8Supercars as the casual fans in Australia know about the BTCC, bugger all.......
