2007 V8SCFC: Entries & Driver Changes

The 2007 edition of the V8 Supercar Fantasy Championship kicks off at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide in just under a months time in what is expected to be an exciting clash of brash new talent against the wily championship veterans.

Over 90 teams stand poised to contest the 2007 Championship. Ford's front running teams, led by defending series champion Club 27 Racing and West Surrey Racing, will be looking to carry the Blue Oval to another championship, with B.O.R.I.N.G., Scuderia Cavallo Ferro, and Autobarn Wynns Racing all out to restore the General to the No.1 position heading into the season-opening Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.

Entering its fifth year on Network Ten-Tenths, this series can guarantee close racing, dodgy officiating, and heated rivalries. The 2007 V8 Supercar Fantasy Championship Series is upon us. Gentlemen (and Gentlewomen),
Start.
Your.
Engines!

1. Drivers

You can hire up to 4 drivers to drive your cars, provided that their combined salary comes in below the $2,500,000 Salary Cap.

Other Drivers
If anyone else not listed above drives in one of the non-enduro rounds, they will be valued at $100,000.

Endurance Drivers
Specialist enduro drivers will be available for Sandown and Bathurst, same as last year. More info below.

2. Hiring & Firing

Gore… Briggs… Imrie… yesterday’s news
As Team Owner/Manager, you are permitted to sack any or all of your drivers in the lead-up to a round, and replace them - so long as you don’t blow the salary cap or 4-driver limit.

To sack/hire someone, post in the Driver Changes thread expressing your disappointment in your ex-employee(s), and your hopes for your new driver(s). You will only be charged a driver change if your team is different at the next round, so there is scope to change your mind if need be. The deadline for making changes is the start of first practise.
However, you can only do this twice during the season.

Endurance Drivers
If you wish, you may use one of your two allocated driver changes to hire some of Dick Johnson’s favourite once-a-year wonders that appear for Sandown and Bathurst. Your driver lineup, including enduro specialists, must still fit inside the $2.5M, 4-driver limits. You will automatically revert to your normal driver lineup after Bathurst, should you choose this option. Note that you do not have to pair up your drivers.

The price list for enduro drivers will be released once we know who they are (sometime after Oran Park). As an added incentive, the once-a-year brigade come with generously discounted price tags

3. Points:

Points are the same as the real series. Whatever a driver scores at each round in real life is what that driver will receive here, including penalties. Your worst round will not be dropped. You will not receive $200 for passing 'Go'.
If you notice that your team hasn't scored as many points as you think they should have (or more than they should have ), there are a couple of likely reasons for this:
1) My maths stinks;
2) I missed your driver change;
3) I've only just realised one of your drivers got penalised somewhere along the line.
Either way, let me know and I'll fix your score so its 100% correct.

4. Other Things You Should Know As Team Owner:

- One team per person, per year. You are not Tom Walkinshaw. (at least as far as I know).
- You don’t have to use all $2.5 million, but DO NOT GO OVER BUDGET!!! You will be suitably punished (ie. disqualified from the round) if I discover any creative bookkeeping.
- A driver can be chosen by more than one team - these guys are consummate professionals and are able to drive 47 cars simultaneously.
- Points are the same as the real series. If things don't seem to add up, feel free to point out my mathematical ineptitude.
- Round results and championship standings will be posted here following the conclusion of each round.
- After the results have been posted, you can report on your team’s performance (or lack thereof). Show us how good you are at distributing propaganda.

5. Team Announcements:

Once you’ve picked your driving line-up, give your team a name, announce some sponsors, racing numbers, liveries, grid girls/guys, mascots, overseas technical partners and any other stuff you can think of, and of course your manufacturer of choice, then post here giving a detailed description of the copious quantities of hide your team will kick in the forthcoming season.

To make it easy for me, could you please condense the propaganda into this sort of form following your press release:

Quote:
NAME: Musical Chairs Racing
DRIVERS:
#2 Todd Kelly
#15 Garth Tander
#16 Mark Skaife
#22 Rick Kelly
MANUFACTURER: Holden
The more obvious the better

6. Forum Management:

Things got a bit messy last year with the sheer volume of stuff going on in one thread. This year I've decided to split everything up so things are a bit easier to keep track of.

This is what you should see upon entering the V8 Fantasy Champs forum:
The Rules, including the Driver Price List: For reference purposes. Please read them at least once!
Current Round Results Thread: Toast your team, or roast your team, depending on how they fare.
Entries & Driver Changes Thread: For posting proper team entries/driver changes only. I’ll allow one livery to be shown in the initial team announcement, all others go in the Liveries thread.
Fantasy Liveries Thread: For showing off your warpaint. Apart from the above, I don't want to see any liveries posted anywhere else please.

I will be dealing to any posts that wander out of their natural habitat. Please make sure I don’t have to do this too much. Like anyone, I get cranky when I’m overworked.

Reminder on Posting Images:

Part of the fun of this is creating and posting your own liveries. While everybody likes to show infinite detail at super-high-resolution, not everybody’s screen can take it. While I can handle going over 400x400, it's a bit rough posting images wider than the forum display. 7. Prizes:

Yes, Prizes!
Should you be lucky enough to emerge from PI in P1, you get to carry off the fantastic prize of a free one-year Subscription to Ten-Tenths, kindly supplied by Ten-Tenths.com – The Known and Unknown Universe’s Premier Motorsport Forum [/plug ], for winning the Championship.
There are no prizes for second. Aim higher!
(Can I also say a big thank-you to EvilPumpkin, MagnetOn and the other forum deities for providing the goodies )

Entries are open as of now, so start issuing those press releases!
Your team can be altered without penalty until Adelaide first practise.
Comments/suggestions/queries are more than welcome, either here or via PM.

May the Fords be with you (or against you as the case may be),

Target set for Scuderia Cavallo Ferro
After a solid third place finish in 2006, Scuderia Cavallo Ferro have retrained their sights on the top of the podium. For 2007, the team's 4 Commodores will be piloted by multiple former series champ Mark Skaife and rising stars Jamie Whincup, Dean Canto, and Shane Price. With CRC returning as major backer for a second year, the team are well placed to duplicate last years successes.

Harves' entry:

Total Team Red & One Other announce their assault on the 2007 V8 Supercar Fantasy Champs. Led by the HRT duo of Mark Skaife and Todd Kelly, with Alan Gurr in the third car, the team will be looking to build on last years 41st place finish.
Reports that Alan Gurr may be on the outer have been strenuously denied by team officials.

Eagle Motorsport confirm entry for 2007.

Eagle Motorsport is proud to confirm a 4 pronged attack on the 2007 V8 Fantasy Championship. Today the team was launched in Christchurch (the teams home town) in front of a big crowd eager to see the teams new cars for this season. The team has been through a re-organization after last year’s season under the team banner of "555 Prodrive Racing". This year though the team is re-branded as “Eagle Motorsport” and will keep the team icon Eagle.

The biggest change to the team though is the cars that will be used this year, the team will run four BMW M3GTR’s, with engineering work done by Prodrive. The teams decision to run these cars was one taken after early tests of the BF falcon weren’t very favourable, so the BMW’s were made to fit the regulations of the Fantasy Championship and have been expertly prepared by G-Design, the teams livery and design specialists. The cars were built in a short amount of time by Prodrive to make sure they got off to get some testing in before the start of the season.

In what has turned out to be a very New Zealand flavoured team, the drivers for this year will be Greg Murphy, Jason Richards, Mark Skaife and Paul Radisich. These 4 drivers have a real look of experience about them and we are hoping they bring great results to the team.

Murphy Testing his car out earlier this year.

The drivers for this year, and their cars, will be

#9 Versatile / Powerbuilt – Greg Murphy

#021 Vodafone / Dell – Mark Skaife

#7 DHL / Sony Xplod – Paul Radisich

#57 Red Bull / Smirnoff – Jason Richards

So, the team rundown:

NAME: Eagle Motorsport
DRIVERS:
# 9 Greg Murphy
#57 Jason Richards
#021 Mark Skaife
#7 Paul Radisich

Two Dollar Twenty Shop (including GST) Racing is back and has expanded from two cars to four, following a couple of - er - creative deals.

Our four equal number one drivers are:

James Courtney, sponsored by Roland Rollador's Rolladoors
Shane Price, sponsored by Scrutton's Old Dirigible Bourbon
Jason Richards, sponsored by Viagraforcars - a little brown pill that puts a tiger in your tank. Or a lion. Or a Kiwi. The claims are a bit confusing.
and Mark Skaife, who's brought his own sponsorship of Tom's Rhinoplasty, Nasonex, Vicks Vaporub and those little sticky nose strip thingies.

As Mark brought his own money, he doesn't have to work in our stockrooms.

Our cars will all be 2007 model Lada Glasnost Perestroikas and we expect to have them all on the grid in Adelaide.

Squadra Darkness is ready to go!!!

After a good 2006, Squadra Darkness is red hot to go to start the 2007 season. In a shock announcment late last year, the Australian police force have joined the team. We have grown from a 3 car team to a 4 car team enlisting the services of Dean Canto, James Courtney, Jason Richards and Greg Murphy. Long time sponsors Castrol and Dunlop have once again returned while Fujitsu have joined us. Also, there are rumors that a second title sponsor might be coming to the table for Richards' and Courtney's falcons, and we can confirm that the new sponsor is Red Bull

NAME: Squadra Darkness

#00 Dean Canto
#99 James Courtney
#100 Jason Richards
MANUFACTURER: Ford

*Thanks to Chatters for making the police livery that Murphy and Canto will use this season.

B.o.r.i.n.g Are Back!!

B.O.R.I.N.G are back for another tilt on the 10th's Fantasy V8 Comp, largely due to the great efforts and organisation by WOOFVESCO.

After two successful years in this series, finishing in the top five on both occasions, nothing short of a championship trophy will suffice this year.

Bazil still remains as our resident axe wielderer. He only managed to use it once last year, so he has obviously tamed down. But our drivers must be aware, because the axe is always dangling....

B.O.R.I.N.G have not retained any of their drivers from last year, which is a common trait for us, as certain drivers wages seem to flucuate each year.

This year we have decided to choose a wacky blend of experience, youth, speed and flavour.

#22 James Courtney
#33 Paul Radisich

Chrysler 101 Racing Returns

M-Kart is proud to announce the return of the Factory Chrysler team to the V8 Supercar Fantasy Championship for its first full season.

Chrysler 101 Racing has returned with its Chrysler 300C's which made their debut mid-way through 2006. After running as Gulf Western Racing with Holden VZ Commodores for Mark Skaife & Garth Tander in 2005, the team spent early 2006 planning and preparing the Chryslers for the revitalised team's Factory Debut. After a number of strong showings in 2006, we are back for a full year - and aiming for our first championship. We are pleased to announce we have retained the services of Will Davison in car #101, again leading the team, and we are proud to say that after some time off late last year, Mark Skaife is back with the team, in car #300 - the same car number he ran last year. TREC regulations mean that we have changed the drivers of our 2 cars. Steven Johnson Joins us in car #202, and new young talent Shane Price will pilot car #010.

We are also very happy to annonuce 3 of the 4 Major Sponsors for the cars. All 4 Cars will carry Chrysler Sponsorship, but each car will have its own individual major sponsor. Mark in car #300 will carry sponsorship from MOPAR the Chrysler-Dodge performance parts company. Steven will carry signage from Hot Wheels, who we are glad to have kept with the team for 2007, after sponsoring our 4th car for the last rounds of 2007. Car #010 for Shane will show signage from Castrol.

We have a surprise in store for our Major Sponsor on Car #101 for Will, and we shall reveal this, along with the liveries of the cars, in the coming weeks before Adelaide.

Team Summary:
Team Name:
Chrysler 101 Racing
Manufacturer: Chrysler
Model: 300C
Car Numbers - Drivers - Sponsors - Cost:
#101 - Will Davison - TBA - $600,000
#202 - Steven Johnson - Hot Wheels - $900,000
#010 - Shane Price - Castrol - $100,000
