F3 on the streets of Calcutta?

A note on another site re. proposed Indian GP mentions that a street race was held last February for local formula cars and they are hoping to move to F3 some time in the future. This is the first I have heard of this circuit and would be interested if anyone has further info.

Sounds good.

It would probably have to be at the end of the season, but it's a great city and could be another interesting F3 challenge.

It'd be a new change, and it'd be pretty fun too

ok maybe i was a bit pesimistic before.......the race won't happen on the streets of calcutta for the next couple years atleast because quite simply we don't have the roads in india (especially in calcutta !!) to run the race. we had a street race there for the indian championship this year and that was a fairly messy affair. we're going to have another one for the indian cars in goa in february and perhaps look at bigger things after that.

the best chance to have f3's back in india is still at the madras circuit though, which is getting a major upgrade over the next 12 months. for sure we could run the race here in the 05/06 winter but depends on whether the local sponsors want to spend the sort of money they did in the mid 90's.
