Mitsubishi Magna V8 Future Tourer

I have only just heard of this car. Where did they get a Mitsubishi V8 from or is it just a Ford or Holden dropped in?

It ran in the last round of the ASTC at oran park in 2001, with greg east driving. It has a Holden V8 in it.

Yeah, it has some interesting bits of cut and paste to get the drive to the rear wheels....

Okay maybe the Magna has a holden v8 engine but this could be a booster for the Astc because if Toyota saw this maybe they could put a car in with it and then maybe more makes of cars could come in and we could have a big feild on our hands at Super Touring rounds

Coulda, shoulda, woulda...the class was aimed directly at Toyota...but they seem to be very cold chicken to the class.

i thought the Future Tourers were supposed to be low cost and look like road going cars, that looks like a very expensive aero kit on the Magna

Looks pretty good though, doesn't it. Certainly better than the V8 Supercars in my opinion.

Hmmm, the first time I've seen 'tough' and 'Magna' in the same sentance in a while...

BTW- I don't know about you, but black wheels do absolutely nothing for me

Racer69,
If you think that aerokit is very expensive, then you have absolutely no idea what it costs to race a car. The cost of aerodynamics would represent a very, very small portion of the build cost of a touring car. Also, how could a V8 RWD Magna possibly be considered as anywhere near close to a standard road car.

Crash,
I'm with you, all the bodykits and racing wheels in the world won't stop a Magna being a grandad's cardigan car. I also agree that black wheels look awful, it looks like someone stole them and left the car on blocks.

Crash Test, how about this: My 70-year old Grandma drives a Kingswood! And I'm not joking either However, my other grandparents are a little more 'cardigan-like' and drive a 306 pug.

but i thought that the future tourers where supposed to look road going on the outside to keep them away from 5 litres, like James Brock's Commodore

I don't think they are trying to keep them different, it was a pretty blatant jumping on the bandwagon by the party's concerned....cash in on a good thing while it lasts...
