Andy H should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
With the season starting soon people are probably thinking about booking those trips abroad to see F1 or other series

With a global presence on the board how about people telling us where they are going (or hoping to go) in the year 2000.....

We must have someone going to virtually every round of F1 this year I reckon.

I would start you all of by saying what I was doing but I've booked up nothing yet as my life is a bit up in the air due to looking for a new job.

Still over to you folks...

Definitely:
Every race meeting at Lakeside and Queensland Raceway and the F1GP at Albert Park in Melbourne.

Maybe:
Super Touring Bathurst (only if Club Cars and Historic Touring Cars are on), Touring Car meetings at Eastern Creek and Oran Park.

CART: Molson Indy Toronto in July.

In between I will be spending weekends at Mosport Park learning race prep!

Let me see...

F1 at Albert Park, booked and allowed by my new job too
ChampCars at Surfers
Probably practice for the V8s at Eastern Creek and Oran Park
Not sure about Super Tourers without Volvo, but I'll probably go to at least one of the Oran Park rounds but really doubtful on Bathurst
Hopefully Rally Australia again this year too.
And then there might be a few club meetings, such as the 6 hour at Eastern Creek.

That I know of so far, British GP, far too many BTCC meetings, F3 from Donington and Silverstone and hopefully I might get the the Goodwood Festival of Speed again this year - just haven't worked out how I'm going to afford all of this yet

So far so good on the races I hoped to attend this year. I have been to the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals just a few weeks ago. I also plan to attend the September round of the ALMS at Dallas and am planning my first F1 race at Indianapolis for this year.

First date of the year:

Silverstone end of February. VSCC Pomeroy Trophy.

We historics nuts are a hardy bunch. Hark at all those people complaining at a GP in chilly April. Oh to be in Silverstone in the wintertime.

What else? American Le Mans and the EUROC roadsters if they manage to sort out dates, anything BOSS, VSCC, CSCC, HSCC that I can get to from Donington to Castle Combe.

MG, Aston Martin and BENTLEY club race days.

Coys Festival and Goodwood naturally.

Liz, try to get there. You will truly love it. But do try to find some 1950s styles if you want a fighting chance of getting into the paddock.

TimD, I will have something made to measure if I go - I have some good pictures of family members from that era, to go by. I am especially looking for the right hat. And praying it does not rain.

WOW all these people with time and money!
Two things I would like.

I will go to the Saturday or Friday of the Canadian GP. But, I will probably watch the race on TV.

I will also go to Molson Indy Toronto, as I always do.

Jay,

Time? Well, I've plotted as many of my Sundays this summer as possible at trackside. What else is there to do on a Sunday? Mow the lawn, walk the dog, watch Bernie's circus...

I like long grass, I don't have a dog, and the VCR can watch the race for me...

Money? Well, I'll concede that Coys and Goodwood are B. expensive, but entrance at any of the other meetings is the cost of a round of drinks at the bar on Friday Night.

Okay, so petrol costs for getting there are a bit fierce, but I've got a subcompact car for that.

I'm in no way a rich man, but as habits go, club motor sport is a pretty cheap fix.

Ok, I was just venting my frustration of not being able to go to the Canadian GP for the full three days despite the fact that I live within 2 hours of Montreal. I have 2 exams to write around then.

As for money, I live in Canada, so there is a plane and hotel on top of GP tickets.

Now, it's my turn:

I'll be in a mere two weeks following the Rally España/Catalunya.

Then, the Gran Premio de España, at the Circuit de Catalunya, F stand -please, let me know if someone is hoping to be there, I'll be pleased to meet you and grab a beer.

Hopefully, the Grand Prix de France and the Thousand Lakes Rally.

Just found this topic whilst searching through to see what races i'd been to in 2000 - thought it might be fun to resurrect it.

So, who got to go to the meetings they planned, and if not, why not ?!

Looks like I got to most of the races I intended (hey, I even made it to Brands) and some I hadn't considered, like the ALMS. Didn't make it to Goodwood though - kind of had a takeover to worry about at work then. Next year...
Next question, how many people got to meet up with other ten-tenths regulars for the first time?
