Some are convinced that Molly Taylor in a Subaru is a done deal.

I'm sketchy on that car but it's good to see a brand that's always been behind motorsport looking at circuit racing, if it's true.

I'm thinking really about Hyundai and Honda, and I guess also VW, who would identify females as a major target market. The marketing possibility here is strong with the right, marketable driver.

Hell, I reckon Leanne Tander would carve up one of these things.

Subaru's involvement probably goes no further than the mothership allowing it to be homologated in the first place. Locally, I can't see them tipping money into it. It's been suggested that even their ARC program is a low-buck affair.

I think the Australian manufacturer of the Subaru gearbox is keen to see the car run in Australia.

How closely related to the Australian arm is the European division that supplies several GT3 constructors?

Such a shame to see Mr. Mostert ruled out of TCR. A big loss for Hyundai enthusiasts and fanatics, no longer having such an ace to cheer on in TCR Australia.

Strange decision on the face of it.

What is the factory Ford and Hyundai presence in both cars for it to be a conflict that Mr Edwards cites?

Easier for Penske to welcome Chaz in. Imagine they start a TCR effort

And then one wonders what the clash is..

If they’re both privateers (and they are) then it shouldn’t be an issue. If it was a simple fact of the team not wanting another distraction they could’ve said that. No one would blame them for saying that. He already does BMW factory stuff on the side. But that hasn’t been said. Seems a bit suss

This..... Ford competes directly in the market place with the i30s.

“In the past we have allowed Chaz to do quite a lot of other racing and providing there is no conflict of brands. Hyundai play in the same space as Ford in Australia with Focuses and i30s.

Not good to have a Ford driver competing in the competitors car!

Is he a Ford contracted driver though?

BMW also play in the same space as Ford as well but this hasn’t been cited as a conflict?

He wouldn't be driving a Mustang without Ford support. I think this is the point.

At the end of the day, if you take a gig as a professional racing driver, you have to cop it on the chin that your boss might be able to veto any other activity you do.

Now that we have got over the "shock" of Chaz not running can we get back to who might be running and in what. Two names I am hearing are Rullo and Denyer?

Only one name is a certainty, in Mr Vernon.

I won't be too concerned. Much bigger TCR series only have a handful of confirmed entries so far.

Chaz was driving an M8 GTE in Daytona which is directly competing against the Ford GT in the GTLM.

Ohhhh-kaay but then the Ford GT isn't sold in Australia so unlikely to have any impact on the limitations his Supercar team are putting on his driving opportunities.

Probably.

They have three of the things, which will be an expensive waste of space if they're not out on the track.

The Ford sponsorship is for the team rather than directly with the driver no?

Correct in terms of taking on the chin, however I would hope there is some form of consistency from your boss when it comes to extra curricular activities. Van Gisbergen is a great example of how other forms of racing can support your performance
