slicktsax has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
If you ran a GT team...

ok if u were starting up a new team to go GT1 racing or Gt2 which car of the ones available would you pick:

GT1:
Aston Martin DBR9
Chevrolet Corvette C6-R
Koenigsegg CCGT
Lamborghini Murcielago R-GT
Saleen S7-R

GT2
Ferrari 430 GT
Panoz Esperante GTLM
Porsche 997 GT3 RSR
Spyker C12R Spyder

i've listed ones that are ready made to buy and legal in ALMS, LMS, Lemans, and FIA GT. obviously if u wanted to run FIAGT u can add in Maserati MC12 for GT1

if i was going to run a GT1 team i'd go for the Koenigsegg CCGT and run it in the ALMS. nobody else is running it yet and i'm sure the fans would love it and it would be great to see how it compares to the factory vettes. as for GT i have to go with the panoz even though the 430 is the car to beat. i just love the way the panoz sounds and it has potential as it one sebring and lemans last year and road atlanta in 05'

I'd pick the Panoz and 'vette purely for aural reasons.

Is this presuming we'd have a rather full wallet? I'd probably have one of each

I'd probably say Lambo in GT1 and Panoz in GT2. While the more obvious choices might be more competitive, cars like the Murcielago and Esperante get a sizeable fan-following simply because they look and sound great - which is potentially (well, possibly...) an attractive option for some sponsors, I mean, nearly everyone likes the rare and exciting underdog, don't they!?

I'd go for the Chev because of the most consistent factory backed service in the last 10(?) years. Doesn't mean it will continue for another 10 but it has been working well for GM.

right, if i was going to run a GT1 team i would be torn between all of the cars!.

the C6R and DBR9 are obvious choices but as we saw last year and for the monza qualifying this year the saleen S7R is very quick and still capable for wins.

the lambo murcielago and maserati MC12 are aurally the best cars in GT1, but as we all know the MC12 is not allowed into the ALMS, LMS or lemans, which is a big problem.

GT2 is basically even, the ferrari 430's are very quick, the quickest car imo and they are now reliable which is definetely a big help.
the new porsche 911 GT3 RSR is definetely as fast as the ferrari 430 GT and is just as reliable and efficient.

the panoz esperante LMGT is quick although this year it doesnt quite seem to be at the front of GT2 at least in the ALMS but we shall see at monza.

for GT1 i would personally go for the lamborghini murcielago RGT or the saleen S7R, they are underdogs imo, the lambo has a huge following from the fans and the S7R is somewhat overlooked comapred to the aston martin DBR9's and the corvette C6R's.

in GT2 i would go for the ferrari F430 GT, im a ferrari man in GT2 and although i love the noise and the sight of the panoz esperante's i just cant deny my huge love for the ferrari 430 GT.

paint scheme wise i would have a black car, with thin white striped over the car ala highcroft honda acura ARX01 but the yellow would be white instead.

Something for a DEVLEOPED race car. So could fund and spend money racing and not initial development.

Pair of C6-Rs

I also think the Saleens have the most potential of any current GT1 cars

Hopfully ORCA can do it. Not sure if the current FORD powerplant will be up to the task. Maybe a YATES or ROUSH Ford powerplant would needed.

Corvette, because its bulletproof and a proven quantity.
so, on that wavelength, i'd have Peter Kox and Pedro Lamy drive it.

A Corvette C6.R and a Porsche 997 GT3 RSR. Drivers would be Kox and Janis on the Corvette and Ortelli and Rockenfeller on the 997.

GT1 - ALMS - 2x Saleen S7R (idealy a factory team) As well as customer assitance so we can get more entries in GT1!!!!!!

GT2 - ALMS 1x Porsche 997 GT3 RSR 1x Panoz Esperante (once PTG develop it to compete with these "next generation" GT2's like the 997 and 430.)

Cheers,

Jonerz
