sweet, with the unsilenced crossover exhaust, the 997 Porsche's sound absolutely awesome, but with a silencer they sound too much like a cup car, i love that woofly flat 6 yowl, its unbeatable

I think there were about 9 diesels this year, any more and we''ll be in danger of being able to get a good nights sleep!

I sincerely hope that the petrol cars will be given a break and be able to beat the diesels otherwise what incentive is there for new manufacturers to build anything other than silent racing cars.

I want to see diesel and petrol on a truly equal playing field. Diesel and the associated technology has a place in endurance sportscar racing, but it should not dominate it, the ACO are also well aware that a whole field of silent race cars will result in empty grandstands.

110db sounds ok to me, and in the Group C era the cars were much quieter. I have read before about James Weaver running over a noise meter at an IMSA race because he couldn't get the car to the maximum. In an interview last year I believe the ACO mentioned that a minimum db level was also under consideration.

In case you didn't notice, there were 4 glorious sounding Corvettes at Le Mans this year, an Aston DBR9, a load of Porsches and Ferraris making lots of lovely noise and an Aston Martin V8 Vantage. With the future LMP2 regs specifying GT/production based engines we'll be hearing a lot more of them

i just wish we could have the soundtrack from the 2005/2006 le mans series back at le mans and in the LMS, man the cars were so much louder and sounded so much better, the GT3 Porsche's without a silencer sound phenomenal, and i agree john, it will be great once we get GT2 engine's in the P2 car's, a Lola Coupe with an Aston Vantage V8 or a F430 GT2 engine on open pipes, my god, racing cars wouldnt get much better than that, although, imagine a Dome S102 with a Lambo Murcie RGT engine in it with open pipes, it would be the definition of perfect

You're not wrong, there were some glorious noises coming out of Le Mans this year. I hope you're right about the LMP2 regs too.

I dont mind diesels as such, it's just that there are so many now, and the rules are such that you need a diesel to stand a chance of winning.
