One thing I want to know is, the ACO has announced that GTS/GT class cars will run with 100 litre fuel tanks in the ALMS, LMES and LM, is this the same for FIA GT or are FIA GT cars still running with 90 litre fuel tanks? If the FIA GT cars are still using 90 litre fuel tanks would make it harder for them to race in the LMES too which would be a shame.

Don't think it is much of an issue for teams.

Importantly GTS regs will be the same for FIA/ACO in 2005.

Jag, if the fuel tank size for a car in the NGT class of the FIA GT championship is 90 litres and they want to run in the LMES as well as FIA GT then it IS a problem, it would mean the car would be running with a fuel tank 10 litres smaller than its competitors, or dont u consider that to be a problem?

I am fully aware that the regulations will be the same in 2005, but for now lets deal with the present.

It's not that much of a problem Saleen. The teams with cars that have 100 litre tanks can place items in the tanks which distill the extra 10 litres so they will pass scrutineering. Other than that, they can change the fuel tank from event to event. In a GT car its not as difficult as in say, something like a single seater where its bag tanked under the seat of the tub.

But still, teams won't want to be swapping fuel tanks over to take part in a different series!

If something such as a fuel cell change keeps a GT team from running in the LMES, then I would say they are not that serious about running in the LMES anyways. No loss.

Points against that are...

It's only four times during the season.
Outweigh that against running two or three drivers, with budgets in the four extra races...

Can't see it being a problem, especially when thee teams strip and rebuilt the cras between races anyway, can you?

Saleen, ny point is that it is not much of a problem swapping fuels tanks, nt running 10l smaller tanks.

Many teams already have FIA and ACO spec equipment from there trips to LM/ALMS etc.

As Audi R8R said, the fact there are only 4 races, plus the potential to run 23 pay drivers is a big incentive to race in the LMES.

How do they measure the fuel tank during scrutineering?

The thing is though, does anyone know if the FIA GT regulations have been changed to allow the cars 100 litre fuel tanks? Oh and by the way the problem woudnt only be 4 times a season, many of the teams in FIA GT will be competing at LM this year, and the LM 1000KM if it is repeated again this year. So that could be a total of 6 times, not a major problem, but a inconvience all the same.

So does anyone know if the FIA GT regulations have changed concerning fuel tank sizes?

From everything I read at the time the Le Mans 1000K was a one-off race to promote the 2004 LMES season. But it is still about six times, LMES = four races, Le Mans Pre-Q and Le Mans. Still no ordeal in my opinion.

Ratel has said that the calender will not grow on the calender that there is at the moment, with the exception of perhaps the LM 1000km which might run again. So that would make 7 times, thats almost as big as the ALMS calender.

Really it would be double as you will have to change it back again for the next FIAGT round. I am not sure though whether they have changed to 100L tanks or not.
