Blimey swapping a pair of gaskets for a $500 sump, that sounds expensive what are they made of gold? :-) Rover V8's are a lot more grief than Small Block Chevys in IMHO and a darn site more expensive to tune. What happened to Graham?

Now, this 'ere avatar. My good lady wife wants the full size version of that pic....

That's the smoking gun, left hand side....... (darnit!)

Graham did make the 2nd race, but it ended with him needing a flatbed, and the marshals needing cement dust at copse.

When I saw your helper/mechanic putting the oil canisters in the boot, I though he was making sure you finished the race, not packing up!

And if you want a better copy of the avatar (1500x1200 pixels, 183k) PM me your email address and I'll sort it out for you.

And at some point next week, I hope to have some pictures on line - it may take some time to do 'though as I do it for fun not business, and ther's still 2 more days of racing this weekend!

I've got a caulking gun filled with RTV - perhaps thats the problem.....

Still, had one nice power slide out of Becketts (gearbox does as it's told now!)

Lots to do!

Beer to drink.

Class A - Rod, Nick, David
Class B - Greg Rose, Nigel Craig (?)
Class C - Richard Gane, Ash, Gary Cole
Class D - Andy Pye, Alex Ribbens
Class E - Richard, Andy, Bill Richards (I think)

First race was mostly similar top 3s, except class E 3rd was Les Beer, iirc.

No exact idea on championship points, but rough calculations on the way home (guesstimating as the result sheets were in the boot, and doing the first round scores from memory) are 1. Rod Birley; 2. Richard Gane; 3. Homebase Hargreaves; 4. Nigel Craig.

Another good day's racing.

And after all that smoking the last car we were expecting was the Orange Escort. Which laid a little stream of oil catching out 3 or 4 at once.

no, i dnf'd the first race when the turbo oil drain pipe sheared (was a brand new part) the race school welded it up for me.

which ment i started race two at the back of the grid, by lap 9 i was 5th, but the gemlins struck again, and the turbo worked loose on the manifold and i lost nearly all of the boost so i lost a good few places, on the last lap the turbo drain broke again, but i did finish, crossing the line in spectacular looking oil fire flames but no real damage done.

but i'm still happy, the car proved to be monsterously fast in a straight line, under braking i could take distance out of most cars on circuit, and although the set up is biasd towards putting the power down its fairly handy in the twisty bits.

cant wait for snett

Maybe it was the loose Turbo unit that caused the pipe failure Graham, there was me hoping you would have to turn the wick down so I could get on par with you (only kidding honest:-)).

I am awaiting some bits that will hopefully help my car in handling and performance as it is not worth entering it as is (not brave enough to do that too often!) shame as I would have liked to do Snett. What are the rules of the series if I wanted to enter my other car for the odd round if the black beasty was not ready, basic same spec as far as class goes, not so quick and damned heavy but at least it gets me out there and keeps my would be backer happy.

Actually I am working on a bit of sponsorship for the rest of the season from a South East based media company (high profile) which will be good for me (obviously) and for the DTRC and if it comes off you may be seeing a bit more of me (God help you all) as they were impressed with the south based circuits and the tie in with the magazine, lets see what happens the proposal has gone in.

Cheers Dave, but it was mighty close. In the second race Greg Rose (driving the ex-Andy Rouse Mercedes 190 Evo 2) finished just 0.674 seconds behind. In qualifying the gap was only 0.074!!Nick Williamson and David Oates also had a good battle for third, only 0.30 seconds apart. Nick actually led both races from the standing start, and Peter Wilkinson was going better with the Mitsubishi. 38 cars turned up. Full report and results on our website later today, when Shawn gets back from Barham (model car racing).

maybe the second time it broke, but looking at it the weld hadn't penatrated properly.

Al its not a problem if you want to swap cars, particulary if they are both in the same class, i dont know about this year but we have had drivers register 2 cars and swap between the during the season, it only gets a bit messy (from a scoreing point of view) if the cars would be in different classes,

but the overriding factor is we want nice full grids, so we wont stop anyone coming out unless there car wont fit the regs, but seeing as aslong as its a front engined (but not motorcyle) saloon it can race with us

In reply to "Teej" the points are indeed close, Andy Mitchell is third on 78, followed by Nigel Craig and Nick Williamson both on 75 then Ashley (Mr Homebase) on 74.5. Hopefully the co-ordinator will have it all ratified by the end of today for publication. Oh Eric, you are third in class E and the leading Fiesta runner.

Thanks Rod. I forgot about Mitch until just after i'd logged off last night. Don't know how, after spending all day in a garage with him.

If anyone comes across a photo of the 205 "formation finish" from race one, I'm sure that the drivers concerned would like to see it.

Cheers,
Tim

That's a £500+ carbon fibre and titanium missile

And as for the report and results (which MST haven't got). They might be on the website. But then again they might not...

You will just have to look. (mainly to add to the 10,000 hits) woo-hoo
