minimangler should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Le Mans Series, Round 5: The Autosport 1000km of Silverstone

12-13-14 September (Can a mod add that to the title, I forgot)

www.lemans-series.com (Official site)
www.silverstone.co.uk (Tickets etc)
http://www.lemans-series.com/en/s52_....php?circuit=6 (entry list)
www.radiolemans.com (Hindy)
Sorry there aren't any colours!

Simonsen to Strakka (leaving Gigwave one down at Brno?)

Could be good, though I'm starting to wish it was anywhere but Silverstone, been there too often this year already!

Only one title (congratulations Jos the Boss) has been decided, so it's gonna be good.

It has a sponsor in the title, so let's hope to see some promotion, and those 30,000 that people keep whispering about

Darren Turner is now driving for Strakka not Simonsen.

JWA using two different drivers in the Porsche compared to the other rounds this year: Peter Bamford & Matt Griffin (Paul Daniels is still the main driver).

Also, Alan van der Merwe is still the only confirmed driver for the JWA Vantage GT2.

Have any of you folks be able to purchase the pitwalk tickets for this race? I emailed Silverstone but the person who returned my email stated such tickets are not available. We've purchased them for other LMS races (usually 25€) and sure would like to do it for this one also. We do have weekend race tickets but if anyone may have in insight for the pitwalk, that info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

If it is going to be anything like this years FIA GT race at Silverstone, anybody can go on the pitwalk as long as they have a general ticket.

Thanks very much - that would explain why you can't buy them.

When I went to the FIA GT this year at Silverstone, the only garage I could walk into was the CR Scuderia one.

*shrug*

A few years ago, there was an empty one and I followed a crowd through it.

That was my last experience.

There is a pit walk between 10:00 and 10:40 following the drivers autograph session.

No details if anyone is allowed that has a general admission ticket but since there are only a few other support series and no pressure from classes racing around that time....

Wandering through a pit box to get access to the pit lane is usually not appreciated by the teams. Several teams had "Team member access only" signs on their doors at recent races already.

I said OPEN garage.
The garage I walked through had cars in, but no team, or tools; as far as I can see the garage was barely even in use.

If it's anything like at the Nürburgring, Pescarolo and Embassy could be a good bet

Subaru_WRX_STi has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
LAA with a single Corvette for sure at Silverstone ! just 3 GT1s !!! just like the ALMS, shame

anyway its horrible to see a foolish clash with FIA GT, Bruni and Collard will miss Silverstone, the Italian is missing the LMS GT2 crown

Sorry to be picky but there are four GT1's entered, and frankly the class only comes alive for me when P&M and Prodrive go head to head at Le Mans, plenty of other fantastic cars to enjoy in that entry.

So who's going off here? Would be nice to have a 10-10ths meet if there's enough of us.

haha, i can remember my hungover comment about the current 5.5 engine sounding like a washing machine compared to the old 4.0 V10 which had an astonishing soundtrack, but the current judd V10 does make a great noise though, specially in the pescarolo's.

its just the current 5.5 V10 sounds a lot meatier and ear piercing unsilenced, witness petit lemans last year with the creation CA07 which made a glorious V10 bellow accelarating down spectator hill

Alternatively - and sorry to be a killjoy - Don't go into the car prep area of any occupied garage without asking permission - There are always hot and fragile items around (having seen the costly results of one uninvited guest stepping on an intricate piece of carbon fibre aero I'm guessing its the last time that individual will wander in uninvited) - The guys are often very busy too. Most of the teams appreciate interest but that should always be balanced with courtesy for their working space.

Not very! But the garages are crowded, people are rushing about - In all seriousness its not the place to be if you don't know where to stand
