Will be there myself, probably get up there early Tuesday to wait in line. The usual suspects plus the K&N kids should be a decent week, definitely won't miss the Star Mazda guys at 8 am myself.
Personally think the K&N guys could be interesting, not a great technical and clean race but interesting in it's own way. The teams didn't all have their chassis info easily available but looks like all I found were using non-COT Nationwide cars and sorry blue oval guys, haven't seen a Ford in any race lineups for a while now.

K&N at Road ATL for PLM; oh the horror...the horror.

Can't wait. Will be bitter sweet.

If I didn't have school I'd love to go. Unfortunately high school's a b*tch about attendance...

It'll be a historic one, for sure. I like NASCAR road racing so the K&N race should be fun to watch. And of course, Petit Le Mans - that's always such a great spectacle. I wonder what European teams will come this year - Greaves, OAK, G-Drive, AF Corse, AMR, and IMSA Performance Matmut come to mind.

It should be a fantastic weekend, and I am NOT happy that I missed both Road America and Road Atlanta this year.

I'm looking forward to being at the Petit again this year to celebrate 15 years of the ALMS.

As far as entries go, right now I will assume that the LMP1, LMP2, LMPC, and GTLM grids will be the same as COTA plus the Rebellion Lola Toyota until we hear anything else.

A neat twist would be if DP cars would be allowed, but for some reason I dont feel that IMSA will want us to see DP and ALMS cars on the same track at the same time until Daytona winter testing.

The Fuji WEC round is the same weekend. That date had already been in place for some time, but the ALMS chose their weekend to avoid a clash with a College Football game or something similar.

Greaves where going to skip Fuji to go to PLM, but now Gainer have took up their entry. Greaves have other chassis they could still take to Road Atlanta.

Okay, I'm thinking seriously about trying to make the road trip out to Petit, and I have some questions:
I'm not even sure if there's any tent camping still available this late, but if there is, are you able to park your vehicle at your campsite, or do you have to park in one of the parking areas?
Also, either way, are you allowed to bring a small utility trailer along?

Camping is first come first serve, and it gets served fast. Tent spots are not reserved, but there are some RV reserved spots. I think you can bring a trailer, but you may have to pay an additional fee.

Small ute trailer gets counted as a camper or another car, can't remember which one, but you'll need to plan on being charged double car parking for bringing it.

I am sure that the "good spots" will be taken by noon or early afternoon on Weds. Good news is, there really aren't any a "bad" spots, 'cept the first place I camped; 8/12 pitch behind comfort station in T5 with a small river running through it around 4 am.

Feel free to ask any and all questions here, too:

PLM Trackside Thread

There's two or three of us there that have been to a few PLMs

It seems like any trailer basically gets counted as double parking, Tent camping $50, trailer, camper, pop-up non reserved $100

Here is the Road A camping map.http://www.roadatlanta.com/fan-guide/trackmap-fan

When you get there just do a quick loop to see whats open.

Infield A - Trees , great view of 5
Infield B , Back stretch, - grassy open areas

family camping - A few trees, mostly open grassy /dirt area.

If you like high speed with a view of 10A and B/ back stretch.
If you like to see action/Family camping at 2,3,4.

Yes, and keep in mind camping opportunities exist in areas other than what is outlined. If you get there later in the week, you will have to be creative.

Or hop a fence to the joeb personal camping area, although last year your corner was packed deep into the woods.

I'll probably be looking for a fairly quiet, family-friendly area. Which would be the best for that?

Fairly area hasn't been too bad except for one group of kids and a broken miata last year. Further down toward the Esses seems pretty quiet but the edges fill fast so a trailer could be tough to get in there.

Ticket arrived today and was like a little kid getting Christmas present early in the mail, have my present but can't open it for another month.

Thanks! I'm hoping to try to make the trip without the trailer, so that might work.
