I perceive the front aero as an issue, although some SUV/ crossovers have less bluff front ends than others. The MG does not look like it will slip through the air with minimum of effort. So if you had one of these fitted with the TOCA engine (The only option as MG have no suitable engine I am aware of) then it's going to be significantly less aero efficient, and therefore slower down the straights than, say, the slippery #HARD CC (Possibly the most efficient drag coefficient of the road car versions of current BTCC racers). It would give JP a legit reason to grumble if he were piloting one! |

if MG were to do it (i still doubt it), would the GS be better? i think ive only ever seen 1 and that was on a stand at Thruxton, but looks more aerodynamically pleasing and is the right length

But as the GS is probably only around for a max of 2 more years it makes sense to use a model that will be around longer. It also seems that the HS SUV will be replacing the GS so might even be sooner as the HS has been launched in China this week so may be here by 2019 at some point or might not given the cars are released in China and finally make there way here after 18 months at least. |

It is being replaced relatively soon (within 2 years of now I believe for us in Blighty) and I think the replacement is new from the ground up, so might not be worth the cost from a manufacturer support point? |

He hasn’t managed to find a full time ride anywhere this season which is surprising

I read that he wants to be back next year and I'm sure there are more than a few teams that would be interested. Shame not to see him this year given how quick the Focus has been... |

I can see part of that happening in that the MG’s and Audi’s get replaced, but by so something already on the grid. Funding for a change could easily come from selling the cars on elsewhere, coupled with a TBL or two. There are a few teams eyeing a step up to BTCC (Matrix for one), who might be interested!

So now that the driver signings / changes have officially started, shall I start a new 'Rumours and Silly Season' thread rather than starting 30 pages in this thread?

I thought this was the 2019 Rumours and Silly Season thread. Don't confuse things by starting another one.

Why adding new thread that would involve the same discussion? But I'm for changing the name of this thread.
