One of my favourites with regards to GT1 cars. The Panoz Esperante GTR1. The looks alone are enough but the noise. Blimey.

Here it is at the Spa Classic 2019.Taken from the Video Description:

'No car has won Le Mans with an engine in front of the driver since 1962. In 1997 the Panoz GTR-1 returned the front engine race car to the racing circuit! The vehicle's chassis was a full-carbon monocoque which was designed by Reynard. The engine is a Nascar 6L V8 which develops 600 HP.'

Outside Video of the car along with a twin at the Dix Mille Tours 2019.

This might be outside the scope of the thread, being Rallying, but it is a bit of Ari Vatanen Manx magic and highly watchable.... on board footage of Ari in the 1983 Manx Rally on the Isle of Man. Ari has an enormous high speed moment that he collected and continued without lifting, through a narrow bridge bringing a 'Dear God' comment from navigator Terry Harryman.

Vatanen? The French politician? My two favorites have always been Jean Claude Andruet and Gilles Panizzi. They have the same "eyes of an eagle". And yes, Frenchies!

Well spotted, Joe. First Ric's requirements to drive are RHD, gear lever left and PAS. When I asked for a special rack and pinion, he talked about Arnold S…

I love the car, which I think is owned by Rhea Sauttner's Father. Rhea and Andy bought the car to Phillip Island this year for Rhea to drive. (Andy was driving his Historic FF, a huge field and IIRC he won outright) In fact they were alongside in the Garage at PI to the Cooper Monaco Iain (Delta) was involved with (with me as a hanger on)

Great idea for a thread, Will, thanks to all those who've posted links, I know what I will be watching over the quiet moments of the festivities.

EB beat me to posting my favourite clip of tom Walkinshaw's qualifying lap at Bathurst, it's my go to when people ask why I race a V12 XJS - 'Here comes da boss!'

I think this might him been his first visit to Bathurst, so not bad for a 'rookie'

Edit: Just checked and it was his 2nd visit... his first in 1984 saw him break the clutch on the grid and not take part.

Last one. I found this the other day and wondered who that might be being pulled of the grid at the start as I know my dads sidecars weren't the most reliable and just thought I'd show him. You bet it was him

Made my day. The Sidecars I've been gripped watching since I first watched them getting on for 10 years or more now.

Nice video from local 'Man and Machine' TV programme featuring the Phillip Island Historic meeting. Half an hour long but well worth the watch, with plenty of in car action and on board laps with F5000, Can Am, Historic F1, Historic Touring Cars from the Group C era, Group A and later, Sports cars (even a bit for Dr Bob focusing on a Shelby 350) etc etc. Plus close ups and analysis of some of the cars (Will, Rhea Sauter's E type is featured and she is interviewed)

I think it is based on the 2016 meeting.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?=526&v=WNhp3G8iHHQ

Edit: it may start about 8 minutes in.... if it does just move the clip back to the start. (I was half way through watching it when I copied the link is the only reason I can think it does that.)
