Good grief, that's impressive. Is the second person a navigator or a riding mechanic? Or just a passenger paying for a race experience? |

Probably some of those 800 Ryanair flight and cabin staff who are being threatened with getting the boot this Autumn. They have been bussed (flown) in from other European bases, and will have probably have volunteered to take over the duties of the UK based colleagues in the hope that they will be earn some brownie points with Mick, and therefore be saved from the chop later this year! |

As Ryanair only fly one type of aircraft, some common Boeing thing, anybody can pilot it. According to the Beeb even Union members are flying them. I hate strikers in the main. (No ocean jokes please).

Mike, I know that you are joking - the smilie gives it away - but there are some, probably a handful or so, of fairly large airlines that would like to see the number of crew in the cockpit reduced to one, with the long time objective of not having pilots onboard at all. Aircraft of all sizes can now, or have the ability to, fly without a human being sitting in the cockpit. One only needs to look at what the RAF and the USAF are doing with drones currently. After all, they are now the size of small private civilian planes. The only reasons that pilots are required to be present on commercial craft are basically to reassure passengers and to be able to take over when the onboard technology goes awry. |

Whilst watching the tv the other night about training our next generation of fighter pilots I was concerned in the section about the RAF's new multi-purpose jet, the F35 Lightning, that a username and password was required to start the systems. What was even better was when they were not accepted the instructor asked the pilot to switch it off and on again. When that didn't work the cameraman was asked to stop shooting so the instructor could fix it. Probably needed to ctrl/alt/del. Bit worrying when they cost £100 million each.

My greatest day came when I was a trials passenger for MG David once. Going up Bluehills 1 I bounced like no tomorrow and we scrabbled over the lip. He turned to me and said:
"Do you know, we wouldn't have got up that if it hadn't been for you!" Fellow bouncers, just sometimes the driver appreciates us. Not often, just sometimes. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk |

Hey, Bob, what kind of thing did you ask for to deserve a blow lamp? Just to know…
