It is to do with an FIA inspection/licence. As last year the demos will be on the Indy circuit as well.

Hi Pinki.
Practice + qualifying all day I'm afraid, although TGPs do come out twice. BRSCC have updated website with timetable (http://www.brscc-se.co.uk/races/time1to4aug.pdf) and entries http://www.brscc-se.co.uk/races/entries1to4aug.pdf) which, as a source of information, I have found to be invaluable in the past (e.g. when programmes have been delivered to Silverstone instead of Brands!). Cool icons! |

Typical isn't it, the one time I don't bother checking the BRSCC site they actually update for a change

So when did the International licence expire Peter? Obviously the licence for WSB doesn't cover four wheels then!

No,that would b be the FIM,Stephen not the FIA. And I thought it was the bikes that needed the run off area,so they can slide safely on their bums when they fall off! Maybe its only the barriers that need attention? Someone tell Octagon to get on with it!

I will be there on Saturday,a colleague from New Zealand (Murray Sinclair) is racing a Lola T332 in the Force F.5000 race. This has also been switched to the Indy circuit which has disappointed him alot having travelled so far.
Peter, you may well be spot on !! |

I'll be in a tent behind the grandstands trying to entice people to become marshals, so pop in if it's wet Rod

This is ridiculous, all the machinery that people want to see are not using the long circuit. Does this not completely make a mockery of using the GP circuit, next they'll decide to use the indy for all of it.
Sorry just very ANGRY Nobody is gonna want to do the long circuit now, and if they do they are going to feel as though they've done something wrong! |

Spanner, it seems its a licence issue and something Octagon have to sort out before a FIA event can be run on the full circuit.

But they've must have known this for a while, its billed as running on the full circuit, they have to man the full circuit but half of the racing is on the short circuit. its only a shock as last year i thought they all used the full circuit, and never heard any different.

Hang on, how many of the races this weekend are on the Indy circuit only?

Exactly, this is a very new occurrance. From what I have read the TGP's and F5000's are on the Indy circuit, the rest are on the GP circuit. Don't take it as gospel though cos you know what I'm like with numbers being an Observer!

The more I think about it the more sence it would make to run all races on the Indy circuit rather than have people spread out all over the place.

Well all in all that was a fun weekend, despite the rain and one other thing that happened (or, more accurately, didn't happen) on Sunday that I shan't mention.
I don't think I've had a day on the bank this year that I haven't enjoyed! For my money the Historic Formula Fords gave us the best race of the weekend on Saturday, and the one on Sunday was pretty good too (even if I did end up watching it from the inside of Paddock Hill Bend). |

I agree, it was a shame they had to chequered flag the Historic F Fords three laps early as it was the best race of the weekend in my opinion.
Let's not dwell on the other matter, it leaves a bad tatse in my mouth (: |

Ferrari festival was brilliant yesterday (Sunday). Had a great day despite the rain (spectating not marshalling though). What stopped the Thoroughbred GP cars in the last race though??? I was at Clark Curve and couldn't see what had happened (or hear the commentators over those fantastic GP car engines!). Those guys weren't holding back were they, despite the value of the cars. Couldn't believe it when I saw the Williams and Lotus come together in Clearways!
Historic Formula Fords was a great race too - why did they end it early? Was it the car stranded on the inside of Surtees? I saw the 2 Octagon minibuses disappear into the woods after the Historic FFs, and reappear and off-load marshals ready for the Thoroughbred GPs race. My friends couldn't work out how I knew where they were going when I saw them go up through Surtees! After telling my friends that and a dozen other things they wouldn't have otherwise spotted or known during the day, one of them has said she'll come marshalling next year, so it was a productive as well as fun day. |

Hi Phil,
The TGP race was stopped as there was a Lotus stranded at Post 4A and in a dangerous position, right on the outside edge of the gravel trap. (4A is the dip from Paddock Bend up to Druids). I believe the historic F Fords was the incident you mention. |
