rbm should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
period colour formula junior film

I recently got sent this link for a documentary film on the Canadian national Film Boards archive of a Formula Junior race at Mosport:

https://www.nfb.ca/film/homme_vite

I think it is a cracking film and so 1960s - wonderful.

(then again I'm biased as it shows the Autosport mk2 - our formula junior and it is actually passing some one! (the camera car).

a merry christmas and a happy new race season to all

certainly an artistic work-love the music and sound effects-did not know they had in-car cameras back that far?
Any chance of film of Trois Rivieres F.Atlantic races from this source?

Iain it is the Autosport Buckler special (or the Autosport mk1) which still exists and races in Canada.

at the very start of the race the car that passes down the left with the novice triangle is the McDonald Special (or the Autosport mk3) which was as a formula junior built using a Cooper 500 F3 chassis with a Mitter DKW engine. This used to exist as a chassis but it may have been re-built as a 500.

at around 5:10 the Autosport mk2 passes the camera car down the left as the first of a group of 3.

so that is all three of the Autosport Equipment Co. cars built by Bob Hanna and Jack Wheeler in the same race.

Lovely footage ..

Are we able to positively identify any of the other cars in the race? Anyone have a entry list we can cross-reference? My own personal interest would be the Gemini Mk2s that we can see, as my own car spent its early life in Canada ... and initially had a bare alloy body?

Oops, 2nd time lucky ....

Thanks for that, using your info I find that my Gemini was driven by Don Kindree as #251, clearly seen in the footage! Looks good in polished alloy too, wonder if I can afford to get those Roach fellows to knock me up a new alloy body?!

I take it you have seen the info on the Historic Racing Sports Car Club New Zealand http://www.hrscc.co.nz/gemini-canada.html ?

It's okay Iain, now that red has also proven to be unlucky, the winter project budget (and rather more!) will be spent replacing the scrap engine ....
