Japanese F3..!!
Why has JF3 become the place to be in 2004 all of a sudden...last year it was lampooned on these forums as the A***E end of the world for a certain driver ( his name just escapes me for the minute ? )....now it seems to be the place to go , even for some of the British F3 "HOT SHOTS"....I will read this forum with great interest this year...

probably because you only have to beat 12 cars to be champion
- might have something to do with racing in front of the honda and toyota head honcho's.....

To be be fair, the drivers escaping over there are hardly 'hot shots'!Richard Antinucci - drove for almost all the top teams on the grid in his two years in Brit F3 but never actually won a race! Fabio Carbone - Hardly set the world on fire apart from his Masters win in 2002. Rob Austin - Been in Brit F3 for donkeys years, only really started to come good last year but again only took one victory (although yes he did miss several rounds) Adam Carroll was certainly much quicker.
And I totally go along with gomick's comments!You do only have to beat 12 cars, and yes you get paid and yes there is very good opportunity to progress into Nippon and Japanese GT's but beyond that, anybody seriously considering F1 isn't really going to get noticed. Ralph Firman did yes, after goodness knows how many years of trying!He hardly shone in F1 last year though so I think more managers would be sceptical of taking anyone out of Japan!Unless you got a few million dollars of sponsorship of course.....! Yeah they look for talent, this is TOMS we're talking about!But they look for underachievers who really should have done better in Europe...cue...Courtney, Antinucci, Carbone etc, etc

Yep underachievers such as Irvine , Firman , Schumacher M . Schumacher R...De La Rosa...Salo M ...Herbert J...Villenvue J...just to name a few who couldn't cut it when they left Japan...etc, etc

Comparing Japanese F3 with British F3 or Euroseries.
Well, putting straight. Euro F3: no doubt strongest field and hardest competition, however you are never going to win without 500.000 bucks and a lot of testing. British F3: almost as good as euro, but money plays a big game as well, look at Piquet and Carlin with 500 days of testing during the year. Japanese F3: sometimes is strong, sometimes less strong. Comparable to england, however less cars. The difference is that the teams are professional and supported by big manufacturers like Toyota, Honda and Nissan, and they can provide in Japan a future to the driver, different from europe, where the driver get nothing when he wins something. Alright? |

Come on in certain circles its common knowledege that James always was a bit of a lady's man. Im not saying he hasn't mented his way's. But were James is concerned rumours will always be there. Whether it be fact or fiction!
