Which version are you racing on ?
It is a quick circuit and has IMHO a number of tricky corners - there certainly are a number of Oulton specialists who go very well there. I have only raced there 4 or 5 times over the years and each time I feel that I get to know it a little better.
They normally have testing during the week before the race and if you can spare the time/cash it is one of the circuits that testing will benefit you.

Probably the trickiest circuit in the country! Druids is the "dangerous" corner - not a lot of run-off and stays wet a long time - double or triple you braking distance if its wet. Old Hall and Cascades (if on one of long circuits) are a gear higher than I orginally thought. Island Bend is flat out

For it being a twisty parkland circuit, it is quite fast - basically each tricky corner has a long straight after it (and half an overtaking opertunity). Its also quite bumpy in places. Best circuit in the country!

Saturday is on the Fosters (Short) circuit!

Graeme - why would you want to brake for Druids?

Druids is faster when on the Fosters track as your not coming out of the slow carpark(chicane) and Knickerbrook is flat in most things.

Andy,

Will be marshalling at oulton tomorrow - if you haven't had a chance to walk the circuit by then, make your way to the start/finish straight for 7am ish and ask one of us to give you a lap.

I have a red Renault Scenic and will be parked on the track if you wish to pop over!

No problem - but I can only take one at a time due to the kids seats in the back.......mind you if you're small enough it'll be just like your racing seat.....3 point harness etc!

You're never in your box that early Richard!

AND, unlike some drivers we usually manage to get as far as your little commentary box!

There will be some poor sods tomorrow who'll have their race completed by Old Hall on the first lap!

'specially with all the rain that's forecast!

Not to mention the movement patterns of the ice cream van But then ... "Oh look, proper racing" as the single seaters start their race

A little bias from commentators is forgivable, but to be so blatant is not, and it's definitely not forgivable to waffle endlessly throughout races rather than actually commentating - it might be amusing inside the commentary box, but believe me, those on the bank would rather know what's going on in the race.

Big Andy...its a fabulous track, Fosters circuit has a little bit of everything. A good tip I was given is to turn in a little later than you would first think, especially at Old Hall and Druids..good luck.

Perhaps a little late now, but did anyone mention to leave a couple of feet from the first (of two) apex of Druids...?

We will never satisfy everybody, all of the time and as the late Big Al said" people only hear what they want to hear".Biased how right you are,Single seaters in any form are my 1st love (except F1).ff1600 is always my major Bias. Please enlighten us on what to say when there is nothing in view !!! If my co-commentator teases me about my love of ice cream again i'll ignore him as the"bank"has requested this !!! Your quite welcome to try a commentary any time!Iwould not think of telling the "Bank" what to do!!

As would journalists in the media centre...

I've done most of my commentary at Mallory, which is great because you can see cars all the time, but even then you're not constantly describing the action - you've got to analyse it as well: explain about the cars, tell people about the drivers, discuss what they might be thinking and trying to do. And, yes, entertain.

I'm not telling anyone how to do it (it was a generic 'you', not 'you' Richard and Mike - I was just giving my views on how I have approached it so far and what I think, as a spectator/reporter, I would want to hear.

I've only just started doing the occasional bit on PA, I'm sure my style will evolve with experience...
