I dont know if denis's car is Terrys old one or not Al, we will have to ask him? Know not driving at silverstone as they are double headers and Jim and i decided that two qual and four races is to much for any car. I turned down a drive today at Brands in cscc tin tops with a friend in his little crx becuase of other commitments too. I will definatly be at Silverstone on the sunday next week though.

Hi guys, dave i was one of the mini drivers and thanks again to Andy for posting the pic of us dueling at snett (again) just before i lapped him i remember the rolling escort incident but i was lucky to have started from the back of the grid and watched it happen in front of me as Ray and i were usually near each other on the grid. Who was the Maestro pilot who rolled down the pit straight armco at Mallory was it Colin Crump or the Davis the Moto Build guy? Talking of Bob Hawking i have a video of a televised Lydden Truck Speed event i was leading with his very quick and more powerfull car behind he eventually passed me when i missed a gear. also have vid of snett meeting which featured Terry Stone a fair bit. I had not heard about his accident its a shame we have lost some of those characters (Roger Turner, Lada)
Jo Ellis drove a nova as did Richard Woodland, remember the very quick Roger Ebdon? he started racing in the Mighty Minis series a few years back ahhh those were the days and we had real butta for tee

Roger was racing a Mini in the Hysterics if I recall, sometimes sharing with Tim Watson.

Yes, a shame we lost people like Roger Turner, I had some good scraps with him in Super Road Saloons.

Ahhh Lydden TruckSpeed - I had a video of that too - I raced there in October 1990, and was having a damn good race until the blessed engine broke a lifter in the final.

Thems was the days! They don't know they're born now......

I got all keen and dug out the tapes tonight. My Truck speed vid was 1990 as well, so could have been same event. a bloke in modified sallon mini had masive shunt at padock hill bend. i aslo looked at the snett vid with Terry Stone and he was having a race long battle with none other than Bob Hawkins and ended up winning. it was a pro made tape so could aslo have been on TV.

No it isn't.

The only previous history my car has was being used as a tax dodge in building my local Toyota garage. It then rotted for a couple of years behind the garage before I bought it and then developed it over the next 20 years (first sprinting, then Super Road Saloons, then Mod Prods and now Classic Thunder).

Denis Bassom uses his Corolla from the championship in CT but he has chucked a massive amount of mods at the car as has Joss Roncetti and talking of which do not forget the Lotus Sunbeam contingency, I think we had 8 of em out at one stage and the Rover SDi's of Ray of Rovertec and his mates (he married Tom Walkinshaws daughter, I went to the reception on the way to Mallory!) and Ellis Bergman's Camaro it was like V8 City!

One of the reasons for the massive Capri contingency was we also started the Capri Challenge which was then amalgamated into the main championship, Dave Fuller's was unique by the fact that it ran a 2.4 Holbay Pinto engine and certainly surprised a few V6's.

Al, My memory tells me it was first known as the Tru Seal Mod Prods Championship. My Capri then owned by Steve "Twin Cam Tommy" Thomas raced in it from the first season

Hi Adrian and welcome to 10/10ths my good friend, now Peter Mallet will at last have someone to talk Capris with! You are right of course it did start off as that but very quickly became Budget-Rent-a-Car due to Mr. Sheridan's connections bringing in the sponsorship. The Falken sponsorship came in later post Brian thanks to an approach via the importing agents and very good package it was as well, where have all these deals gone and why do a company like Falken decide they want to back a ruddy golf tournament instead of a race championship which must be where their core business lies? I do know some of the answers to that infact but it would be bit too controversal to publish here. BTW I will say it was definitely not for the reason that appeared in one of the motoring mags interviewing our Neil as that was a load of bunkum and way off the mark.

What colour was that gold ?

Blimey I'd completely forgotten about that 'Truseal Mod Prods'. I first saw them down at Lydden, I think I've still got the program

Now from what I can remember the Britnell brothers were racing their Mk2 RS2000s and Andy Pyke had his Mk1 Mexico. I even think Ellis Bergman might have been racing ? Plus there was a orange Sunbeam Lotus, but I don't remember his name, I think I was probably still going to school when these cars raced.

And you may have remembered a red Chevrolet Monza Spyder V8 driven hard into the bank and totalled by moi at the same meeting. That thing had a twist in the chassis and just would not turn right preferring to go straight on which it did at the end of the start finish straight! Such a shame never seen one raced over here before or after and so much potential in car the size of Vauxhall Coupe yet fitted with a 5.7 V8.

Its an age thing obviously then, you, my mum . by the way Big Al calls me "Mick" but always write "Mike" again an age thing
can you guys suggest which class would be good for the Min as i am out of touch now. i have the option to go 1275 up to 1460 but may not fit all the regs as car is still as raced in falken spec (but no engine).

1275cc + 60 thou would be legal for most historic stuff dunno about the arches though or go all out and race it in one of the specials like Classic Thunder and Dunlop Motorsport News championship.

Ive still got clarkins sunbeam, Its been developed a fair bit over the years and ive taken it back a peg or two to run in TTRS. Ive had the car 10 Years now, but still havent mastered building a decent lotus engine yet! Speaking of big bangs i still see Nick Davies and am trying to persuade him out in TTRs also.
Phil and Mike Seaman are both busy boys running Ronchettis sunbeam, and Woody is hard at work sorting out Aston Le mans cars. He still has his 2.6 Sunbeam also.
All the best Cheers JON

thats the sort of door decal we want for our BMW
but with CTCRC on it instead, because i feel the circular emblem seems a bit dated for the later cars such as pre 93, although it suits the 60s and 70s
