Tristan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Does TC put extra "undue strain" on the engines??

If so, what's the point?? Surely marginally better tyre peformance is heavily outweight by the reliability issues?? You can include stalling on the grid in this too!

it does put a lot of strain on the engine. thats why the orange team didnt use it cuz they didnt know how to control TC. n im sure mc laren suffered from Tc as well.. but they arent ready to admit this .

At Silverstone testing you can hear how much the engine does NOT like the TC - at really twisty circuits it will be an engine killer.

"To stop people complaining that other people are cheating." Or anyway thus saith the Chief Complainer, Ron Dennis.

Listen to the Ferrari on a tight turn and tell me that engine isn't gagging. It sounds horrid.

Precisely. The only reason they have made it legal is so they can make sure no-one is using it illegally.

Then they should make it mandatory to locate the program in the gearbox, like the legal Ferrari system, as opposed to retarding the spark, or throttle control, or anything engine oriented. This is going to be expensive for the smaller budget teams. FIA, the all knowing, all seeing motorsport body, should issue and control the software for this...

The only problem being they have confessed they wouldn't recognize traction control if they fell over it in the dark. What somebody should do is design a "traction control virus" that will search it out and quarantine it so the FIA can prove it's there and then take appropriate steps. Certainly there are hackers out there who could do this for a fee roughly equal to Bernie's pocket change on any give afternoon.

We may actually see teams choosing not to use traction control or launch control due to the reliability factor. TC has to put alot of strain on the engines. They were not designed to misfire. They were designed to run smooth, flat out. The engine wants to go but the computer tells it to slow down. 2 opposing forces= strain. But how much stress can it take before something fails? How fast can the engineers work? AAAhh, we shall soon see.

Valve Bounce has been held in scrutiny for further testing
I think that hte development of the TRACS software is in its infancy right now, and ways will be found to control the torque curve to suit the different corners at each circuit. It was interesting to read that Williams prefered to run without TRACS, and that Mika switched it off for quals at Spain. However, nobody can ignore the benefits of TRACS on a wet track, and no team can afford not to develop TRACS until it does not affect reliability. Let's see how this pans out - it's early days.

Some would argue that Max and Bernie are indeed in charge of organized crime....of a sort...
