Because we still don't have a topic for the second round of European Le Mans Series, I took the liberty to open it.

the forecast is for two blindingly sunny days, though there appears to be some high but heavy looking cloud heading this way later this afternoon.

big changes from silverstone? probably reigning champions signatech alpine switching to dunlop tyres after a very below showing in round 1. the addition of nathanael berthon to murphy's lineup is another big development but considering how quick and competitive kapadia was at silverstone it's perhaps not going to make a significant difference to their race.

it's a slightly strange weekend in that there's just one other series on track this weekend (carrera cup france). spectators for today are literally in their tens

what is everyone else looking out for?

Apparently we're down to 37 entries, as the Team Ukraine Ferrari F458 GTC seems to have withdrawn. Or at least it’s not list in the this article on the ELMS website that was posted this morning and didn’t run in Free Practice 1.

Also not out in Free Practice 1 was the #81 Kessel Racing Ferrari F458 GTE car but it is apparently expected to compete.

Ferrari F458s took the top seven places in GTE in Free Practice 1. The remaining Ferrari to run, the JMW Motorsport car, was 10th. The single Aston Martin was 8th, while Porsches were 9th, 11th, 12, and 13th (of 13 cars in the class).

Some tension between Italy and ACO? Don't know. But it's strange that they have only one series serving as a support race.

Access to the Autodromo is free and only 10 € extra if you want a paddock access.

Gutted that Motors are showing a EuroV8 race right in the middle of the ELMS coverage tomorrow.

Not able to watch it live and there's nothing worse than having an entire hour missing when you're watching it back. Suppose I should be happy there's any coverage but it's still annoying.

So they have Andrew Marriot on the Q stream instead of RLM (whom on the twitter have said "No-one else has RLM comms" - seems to be the new motto)

Also terrible new pit lane reporter who reads her lines from paper...

She has a heavy accent, attractive as well, but the commentating team leaves something to be desired.

I guess she was still better than Justine Monnier and Adélaïde de Gouvion Saint Cyr at LM, ehh. Marginally...

So ACO has hired Marriot to talk by himself for 4+ hours (in David Addison style) while RLM is next house doing comms solely for their own station. Okay. Is there some kind of rivalry going on now?

Sitting in some garage in France. I've got a feeling they'll fold their ELMS entry fully after Le Mans is done

not really. the additional personnel costs and actual running costs are still huge. it's not as simple as just throwing the car and a pile of tyres in the truck any more.

watching the lead two cars deal with the traffic is absolutely awesome. and their pace compared to the others is unbelievable...

In P2, Jota and Alpine at the front, Loeb and Pegasus at the back. I think this conclusively proves the link between good livery design and speed.
