Forum Kart Meet!

Hello fellow forum members!

I have asked Craig Antill if I could try and organise a forum karting meet in the future. His response was basically "go for it".

So, simple question really, would any of you be interested in meeting up one Sunday to go karting at a venue in the UK?

Logistically speaking it may be easier if the meet does go ahead that we choose a location that is neutral (in the Midlands) to all, so people up north and down south don't have to travel too far to get to the venue. This is open to discussion of course, if say 90% of people attending were from Kent, then Buckmore Park would be the obvious choice.

Anyhow this is all acedemic if only 3 people want to go, so can we have a show of hands!

I want to put my name forward first

I know it's very early days yet but it might help if you could give some idea of the possible cost, if only a ballpark figure.

Cost is likely to be between £40-60 for practice/quali/race.

*Rough* estimate will depend on where and when as well as the type of event. You'll be looking somewhere in the region of £40-£80 per head.

I'm more than up for it! (just to let you know, i'm a pro and i don't like being overtaken! !!)

Go for it! I know a lot of circuits and can give information on most of them and their karts, prices etc. So just ask me anything you need to know or go to,

I am probably going to go to one of those "club 100" kart races when they come to Birmingham Wheels in Septemeber, £130 seems a bit steep though, its been so long since I sat in a kart though, I used to do it all the time at University, its been about a year now since I raced last.

Club 100 have 70mph TKM's, the racing is pretty tough though if you haven't raced for over a year..

Raced at Milton Keynes yesterday (UK inter-Universty race), turn 13 was just about flat in their (battered) thunderakrts, though I'd be a bit more wary of it on a cold winter's day...
I'd definitely be interested in a forum race meet if its at an outdoor track and in reasonably fast karts (thuderkarts upwards).

I think four stroke would be best because of the mixed abilities with drivers mixing with speccies and pumkins in two strokes it could all get a bit messy.

Perhaps we could keep this thread for actually organising the meeting, and open a new thread in the karting forum if you want to talk about the specs of particular types of kart?

Depending on price, location and date, I might be interested, btw

[Redshoes: karting specs posts split and moved to Karting Forum]

If you can get it organised then I'd be up for it depending on where/when. Might be more successful if an indoor karting event was organised for October/November when there is no motorsport at weekends + making it suitable for those with no/little racing experience???

Well thats around 7 or 8 people, still need another 2 or 3 at least.

I think "Birmingham Wheels" minimum booking is for 10 people.
