S2000 cars to be allowed into the USTCC and the DTS.

S2000's (plus those with a 1.6 engine unit) will be allowed to race in the USTCC (United States Touring Car Championship and the DTS (Dominican Touring Series).

While Europe seems to be pulling away from the regulations, there seems to be a plan to bring them into the Americas.

Makes me wonder still if they might try to develop the Asain TC championship as well. (I'm a little worried that the apparent JTCC comeback has all but been canned.)

Apperantly, the USTCC has started to expand nationwide. The last time I checked, the USTCC had a California-only schedule. Still, the series should increase its visibility, if they want to make a serious mark on the American motorsport scene.

I also reckon it might be a way of spicing up the WTCC USA races. If they get a handful of USTCC teams with S2000 cars then in theory they should be able to race in the WTCC race, giving the locals drivers to get behind.

Plus you then get the added novelty factor of cars from completely different markets racing against one another. (Although that kind of happened at the X-games with a Citroën DS3 racing against Dodge Darts.)

Pointless using an S2000 car in WTCC unless they can run with 1.6 turbo engine. But a good idea if the U.S/DTS & Asia can use the same regs as their will be a good customer base for future S2000 cars
