TyC Sports didn't air the race yesterday in Uruguay, but instead showed an Argentine football match encore.

El Trece is a Buenos Aires station.

El Trece Internacional is only available on Cablevisión, which I don't have.

Despite them being V8s their engines never were that big, anyway, as they used the Radical V8s made up from two Hayabusa motorcycle engines, coming in at just 2.7liters.

Yep

I understand reliability is an issue.
An engine like the Swindow BTCC is what they need. Enough power for FWD car and good reliability.

From Touringcartimes.com
Quote:
WTCR regular Esteban Guerrieri joined independent Honda team RAM Racing for the Super TC 2000 race in Buenos Aires last weekend and is calling for a format change to the Argentinian series.

“Super TC2000 has a standardized engine, which reduces costs, but it should introduce a ‘push to pass’ system and pit stop strategies to improve the races. I would like to see longer races, re-fueling and tyre changes. Also adding downforce to the front could help,” said Guerrieri to TouringCarTimes.

...
IMO STC2000 doesn't need push to pass and more downforce.

Push to pass wouldn't be too bad if an IndyCar-style system is used.

Tyre changes is a bit ridiculous in a 40-minute race, but whatever.

I love the cars' aggressive bodywork, but I admit that it discourages close racing.

Last weekend the TC raced at El Villicum, the new racetrack at San Juan province. The top layer of the track got destroyed, apparently for inappropriate "cooking", and will be fixed.

Another issue at the venue was that no food was allowed by spectators except mate, which prevented the traditional barbecues.

Next weekend it's the last race of the Súper 2000. The title will be decided again between Facundo Ardusso (Renault) and AgustÃ*n Canapino (Chevrolet).

Facu is 23 points in front of Canapa. The points scale is 40-34-28-24-20-16 for the top six and 14-12-8-6-4-2 for the top 12, plus 2 points for the polesitter.

Earlier this year they were thinking about major sporting regulation changes. Now, they are not even sure of the technichal regulations that will be in place for next year.
Economic and organizational issues are hitting.

IIRC new technical rules are for 2020. I have no idea about the economic situation.

I love Argentinian touring car chamionships, but I really don't understand why a driver must win at least one race in order to win a championship. Pernia has won the TN C3 championship with less points than Chapur: Facundo has no races won, so no title for him.

It's a very old tradition. It would be easier if the points scale was less flat, so wins would be rewarded properly.
