Surprisingly good - I didnt expect it to be so. Would I marshal it? Well I wouldn't object if it were on a bill I was already going to, but I don't imagine I'd make a special point of going. Really depends on where, when and what the rest of the programme is.

Yes very interesting a few good moves, perhaps when thay settle down after so many years off, and a few more tracks with more over taking oppertunities, this looks to be a series.
I really enjoyed it (mind you it,s allways good to have murray and nige back) And our freind STEVE TARRENT is this week on holiday in south africa marshalling/flagging at this very event; and from his text he,s having a really good time, well done steve you deserve it. |

It has always been said that if only we had V8 engines, limited aero, big fat slick tyres then we would get good racing. and with the list of drivers racing i would have expected fireworks.
BUT i was dissapointed, only a few 'good moves', hardly any overtaking, and most of the race was single file traffic. Maybe it will liven up once the drivers get back into the swing of driving. |

Have to say I was disappointed. Quite processional - rather F1 like (I fell asleep twice watching it on the telly!)
Prefer A1GP, as the cars are livelier. |

The potential is there to be a great series, but there was not enough going on during the first race. I would have to see what other races are like before I'd consider marshalling it. At the moment, the answer would probably be no.

I was disappointed. Just looking at it as a race, forgetting who the drivers were, & what you got was a small grid & a processional race - just the things many of us complain about! Probably not helped by poor TV coverage & lousy commentary.....
Hpw many times did Walker say that Mansell was the driver who had won more GPs than anybody.....then list the three drivers who have won more? |

I thought it was quite good, but i don't know whether i would travel any great distance to marshal at it.
Definately good to have Murray back though! |

The best part of the qualifying was that Motors initially lost the commentary feed, so all we could hear were the V8's - |

I thought the race was quite poor but it made up for it when it showed Mansells daughter at the end. She must be early 20's and fit as a butchers dog....... She didn't get her looks from our nige!!!

What a dull race!
THe high point for me was John Hindorf (spelling?) going into orbit when a shot showed Mansell going slowly. It was a slo-mo replay! I still think open-wheel racing has had it's day. It's so technical now. These cars are based on 1990's Reynard CART cars. About as good as you can get in this day & age, and they STILL played follow-the-leader! Give me sports cars any day! Not as good or colourful as A1 GP. |

I almost forgot. Where my eyes playing tricks or was there still full-course waved yellows at the restart? If they were green flags, they were very yellow!

some sort of boost button(a1gp,palmer audi)type thing would make things a little less single file

I watched the qualifying and race on Motors TV and then watched the BBC coverage to hear the return of Mr Walker.
Would I marshal it. Yes I would but would prefer it to be held at Donington or Brands Hatch rather than Silverstone. |

I agree with you there spotty Donington or Brands would be the place to run them, and i would go and marshal. I thought they looked more spectacular than the A1 GP cars they slide about more ,did you see the on board shots from Hans Stucks car loads of over steer? just what we all want to see , not some computer controlled car on rails

Yes Hans Stuck was certainly giving it some and a some of the others got the back end stepping out.
It will be interesting to see how Prost and Jones get on when they join in the series. |

I thought that the race wasn't that interesting and the coverage was worse. We were told that hans Stuck had "shot up" from 9th to 6th and later Jan Lammers dropped from 3rd to 9th(?) but we hardly saw any of that.
Plus dear old muddly talker kept saying that Ricardo Patrese was holding up the rest of the field when there was > 2 second gap between him and Andrea de Ceseris who was actually holding up the field I would probably consider marshalling it but I would suggest Donington rather than Brands Hatch because its nearer and everything else new that I want to marshal is at Brands Hatch... Thanks for that! I know I'm an Observer, but I haven't lost the whole of my sense of sight! Even one of the commentators said something about them on Motors TV!
