Alwaysfirst should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
New Buenos Aires

Since 1996 there has been no GP at Buenos Aires & even the last few races were carried out on one of the slow & quite boring shorter tracks. So I decided to modify the track a bit to bring it back to life.

The start/finish straight has been lengthened, with a new pit lane that has more paddock room behind it, to a new T1, a wide bit sharp right-hander. At T2 the strack separates into the short track & the GP track. The GP track continues along the straight around the lake to the old fast loop which would create 2 of the fastest corners in F1, down an extended back straight (nearly 1.8km) to another wide but tight corner, this time a hairpin. There is also an option here to leave the GP track to create an external track. There is a small left-right esse to take the track onto the old back straight, now running the 'wrong' way to a slightly banked left-hander. Another straight leads through a right-handed kink onto a straight to a left-handed parabloica curve. A short straight leads to the old circuit's left-right esse, round a left-hander to a tight right-handed hairpin. Through a right-handed sweeper this takes you down to the last corner & back onto the start/finish straight.

I tried to use as many of the existing bits of track as possible whilst making them a bit more exciting, which I think I've achieved. Grandstands have been improved & extended, as have the run-offs & paddock (which Bernie will like!).

Hope you like it!

I like it, and while I don't have a problem with the length of the "return" straight, a lake side chicane might be needed to break up the 1.8km length.

Or perhaps lengthening the the top left corner to exit and run parallel to the lake before a fairly open fast chicane or esses onto the straight.

That's a beautiful one. A hot contender for the February award.

Nice circuit. The usage of the part around the lake completely changes the nature of the track. But I don't know how I get my tranporter to the paddock...

See, werner, that's exactly why I put the paddocks and cargo area on the outside with my Christchurch track, remember?

Something else: if we put the track width to, say, 14 meters - that would make it a somewhat-narrower-than-the-average track, then still the gravel trap around that fast back loop would be about 40 meters wide.

Isn't that maybe a tad too much of safety?

Guys I think your being hyper critical, not everyone can get their scale perfect.

A little imagination and the run off area can be a combination of tarmac and gravel which would make the proportions look more manageable.

And paddock access could easily be by tunnel either under the approach to the final hairpin with the access road passing between the infield section and the pitlane, or alternatively a tunnel under the T1-2 Chicane with access into the paddock that way.

Sorry about that...memory must be on the blink a bit! My scales might be a bit rubbish but you get the general idea! Whist some of the run-offs may be a bit large I make no apologies for the one at the end of the back straight. A 1.8km straight is so rare in F1 these days I would be prepared to tolerate a huge run-off area for it! Access to the paddock would be as it always has been, a tunnel under where the pit-lane starts. Just go to gmaps & type in Buenos Aires, switch to satelite view, zoom in a couple of notches & a bit to the south west if you want to see what I mean...

Glad the ideas seem sound though!

After a closer inspection of gmaps I think that the long back straight may only be about 1.45km so still possibly needing a chicane, but also very possible without, as long as there is plenty of run-off. I would still imagine speeds of 205mph+ along the straight, possibly more, but as long as the safety of this is taken into account I see no reason why there should be problem.

You're dead right. Remeber what yiou said about my Heviz track?

"I'd say that either don't draw in the gravel traps, or try to scale them to the width of the line."

Now, who's hypercritical? :P

Let me make this clear: your crits about Heviz were all justified and appreciated and they helped me a lot - so I have not the smallest problems with that - it was just fun seeing you making these two remarks

And one more thing: calling me hyÃ*percritical after I've said that this one is a hot contender for the February award... - well, I dunno...

I think there's no problem at all with having a long straight like that.

Nice one! I love the loop around the lake and the long backstraight! This track would be a real challenge for the engineers to set the cars up right for.

@ Alwaysfirst: a Tunnel under the straight to the last corner would probably be best, but the entrance to the paddock would be very tight. I don't know if you have ever been in Zandvoort? The problem is the same over there; Al the trucks and cars and people must go through a real bottleneck, because 1 part of the track comes very close to the other. Maybe the infield-part of the track should be made a litlle smaller. The track is long enough to handle that. The other problem is the stands on top of the tunnel, That makes the tunnel more expensive and longer, so the possiilities depend a bit on the budget and the terrain.

@ bio: A bridge for the cars of VIPS is as much a bridge as a bridge for the transporters of the teams.
The size of the graveltrap should be very large, given the length of the straight and the speed in the corner. I only wouldn't put stands behind the graveltrap, or give free binoculars to all the spectators.

Looks real nice iceman, the only problem I can see is that second last turn, there is some major elevation changes there I think, if I can remember correctly from the PS1 Formula 1 '97 game.

EDIT - Nope, im wrong...

I've now tried a different version of the Autodromo Fernanda Pires da Silva a couple of times, but can't find a decent way to include the old (and fast) bit around the lake. Including it in any variant of the main track quickly makes the circuit close to 6 km (3.7 mi) long. Plus you'd probably need a chicane in either one of the long straights, since they're both around or over 1 km (1,000 yards) long.

Here's one version I came up with, 6.1 km (3.8 mi):

There's mines, 3.7 miles long. I used the long loop and sharpened it up a little so that the speeds could be controlled (for F1) and the original loop would be retained, but as an optional route.
