Sadly, this happens relatively frequently in the US. You might miss your initial flight, but you are likely to get on a later one. These idiots needs to see some actual jail time.

Come on people. Buy dedicated range bags and don't use the bags you use to fly to carry guns! (spoken like a true American) Note, you can transport firearms on planes in the US, but there is a specific process and that is to NOT just toss them in your carry on luggage and cross your fingers.
