Cup goes to Bowman Grey for AllStar and Mexico City for points. Only one off weekend for Easter all season
Xfinity and Trucks get a fun addition, they're both going to Rockingham and more importantly Lime Rock Park https://racer.com/2024/08/29/lime-ro...ity-schedules/ |

So the Cup will have 6 road/street courses: Austin, Mexico City, Chicago, Sonoma, Watkins Glen and Charlotte.
Xfinity will have 7 with Portland, and Trucks will have 3 (Lime Rock, Watkins Glen and Charlotte). But at the same time there's also new (old?) short ovals like Bowman Gray, North Wilkesboro, Rockingham, Gateway, IRP and Iowa. Meanwhile, there's no news about Fontana, but there's negotiations about a San Diego street race in 2026. |

Fontana was always off the schedule, that's a non story for 2025 no matter how much everyone wants to make it a big deal. The ideas floated are non starters too given the work needed in California.
For what it's worth the section of track to be rebuilt as the short track have remained with demo starting from each end and fencing separating the parcels as per multiple local media sources and pictures And remember that the claimed NASCAR buying in to the Long Beach GP group crashed and burned FAST, they weren't even asked as Forsythe bought out the other 50% immediately Last edited by broadrun96; 31 Aug 2024 at 13:06. |

Interestingly because of the goings on with the Cup Series charters, it has been leaked to the AP and others that NASCAR actually has 40 charters, of which 36 are currently active, with 4 in reserve. It seems that NASCAR, per the leak to the AP, are trying to reserve 4 charters for a prospective new manufacturer that may be coming to the Cup Series within a few years.
Who could this prospective manufacturer be that NASCAR is trying to work out a deal with to enter the Cup Series, or does even such a thing exist as far as the foreseeable future? |

It's been know for several months that Honda is considering leaving IndyCar for Nascar.
https://racer.com/2023/12/08/honda-w...s-are-slashed/ It makes perfect sense that Nascar reserved four entries for them. |

Ultimate irony. Ontario closed in 1980 for that reason. Fontana was built (4 miles away) while unpaved banking from OMS still existed; and less than half of the property had been redeveloped.

Not sure where else to put this but it's worth posting. Dave Blaney wins his last race in a race named after his father. Doesn't get much better than that:

NFL on prime has just told me NASCAR is on prime.
I am outraged. |

It seems that Toyota and TRD USA want to rebadge at least their NASCAR program from Toyota Racing to Toyota Gazoo Racing to match similar changes made elsewhere in Toyota Motorsport. Basically think when ViacomCBS renamed itself to Paramount Global a couple of years ago, for much the same reasons--to push the prominence of a much used brand name.

This more or less confirms the TGR NA rebrand, and it's first product:

Well Helio is in now regardless of how he qualifies, Open Exemption Provisional in the new regs allows basically a promoter provisional like local tracks. BUT you get no points or prize money
New playoff points rules makes running The Double pointless. If you miss a race for non-medical/age (can't drive in Cup/Busch under 18 any longer) issues you must apply for a postseason waiver. You will then forfeit playoff points and can only start with less than 2000 max. You must apply for said waiver if suspended a race as well, and it is a non-appealable decision once issued. Damaged vehicle is at least reasonable now, 7 minutes (oddly 8 min at AMS only) on pit lane to fix it. If you don't make it within that 7 min on pit lane and head out, that's a penalty. However in the garage you can wrench away no clock or max time. If you can't get back to pit lane you'll be towed to garage direct |
