It's not only oldies. 27 years old MiniMM has given up and is applying on paper.

You should try being a club secretary and applying for permits. What took ten minutes on the old system now takes 30 if you are lucky.

It's technology. It's here to help us and make life easier. The trouble is large organisations such as banks, government departments, MSUK, etc. install systems that make it easier for them (and cheaper), not the customer.
With commercial organisations (particularly banks) it's far more about the chairman and CEO's bonuses than the customer. |

Haven't renewed my race licence for a couple of years - heck, no, its 3 years! - but I did renew my marshal licence online with no hassle.........
Living life in limbo at present as milady's been in hospital since Saturday, after A&E visits on Thursday and Friday - finally diagnosed with a CT scan as having an abdominal aortic aneurysm which is leaking.......and at her age (3 weeks off 89) and with her other health issues an operation isn't viable.... So its been a balancing act with various combinations of meds to try to keep her comfortable whilst awaiting the inevitable........and I'm on 12+ hour shifts by her bedside. Some talk of moving to a hospice, but availability is tight....... |

Sorry to hear this news. It's terrible if it's anyone you know but it must be heartbreaking if it's your spouse.

Lanky, my thoughts are with you both.
It's sometimes said to be a blessed relief when we lose someone - but the pain remains for those left behind. I went to Peter Sainsbury's funeral today - a.k.a. the A series engine builder Skiptune. You couldn't wish to know a nicer bloke and the awful fact is he was 6 years younger than me. Feeling quite cut up about it this evening. |

@MGDavid I didn't know about Mr Skiptune. Such a shame. Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk |

Thankyou, my friends, for those thoughts - sadly Blanche left us a few hours after my last post, and understandably I've been a bit distracted since.
After 47+ years and given her age and recent health issues I thought I'd be more prepared for this but its still tough and I'm vacillating between coping Ok and having a wobble. As I'm sure is common - I'm not too bad until someone is nice to me.......and there has been a lot of support from friends physical and online, especially from the motoring and motorsport world that was such a part of both our lives - we met at my local Rally club and she was involved in all my rallying and latterly racing endeavours, and of course my Alfa and Imp Club activities. Thanks again |

My sincere condolences, Richard.
Yes, you will go through all the emotions but you have to stay strong. It will take time but you have to remember all the good times you had together. Thinking of you... |
