So Vortx aren’t there - can’t imagine they’ve been turned away, so presumably 2 of those TBLs will account for their entry (partnership with One maybe?) or the whole thing was bogus.

Power Maxed back down to 2 as well, at least for now.
None of those are for Vortx

It's good to see that we can expect 24 entries next year, seems an ideal number. Remains to be seen if it's really so, I guess there may be some unpleasant surprises if a team's unable to field all the cars (like WSR last season) but should be alright.
The biggest mystery for now is One and what car they drive. Perhaps it's the team that can be sort of a "customer team" of Alliance? Having two Fords could be better for them than the ageing and underdeveloped Hondas

Not too many surprises although One being back is interesting. I can't see them running the Civics so maybe a customer deal with Alliance to run Cook and someone in a pair of Focuses?

Speedworks with 4 feels optimistic if they won't have the LKQ backing for the other 2 cars

But Speedworks might perhaps have well funded drivers like Sumpton and Pearson + Huff + A.N. Other?

Could be, I know people have mentioned Sumpton and Speedworks as a possibility on this thread earlier in the year. Could also be a landing spot for Halstead if he's still wanting to race.

Well that’s muddied the waters a little . Nice to see 24 cars and return of One given a bit more credibility but now wait to see how all the pieces of the jigsaw fits together . Be interesting to see the cars anticipated for One and Restart and where Sumpton fits in . BMW extra entry could be an extra MB funded car , wonder if Hill would see a teammate as a help or hindering factor . If they did I expect either Watson or DeLeon . Moffat then possible teammate for Turkington , probably similar to Morgan in many ways but funding would tip the balance . Toyota also a conundrum as I doubt they will enter 4 cars under the TGR branding . Interesting aside was an interview with the current Honda series champion who is also thinking BTCC , perhaps a bit premature this year but could he bring funding to One motorsport as a possible partner to Cook .

I could have been clearer, Dan had to raise £200k off his own back.

The costs in general to put a car on the grid is £xxx, of which a % is funded by the driver, a % is funded by the teams through their commercial partners, the see-saw changes on each direction depending on where the grid you are, some teams were notoriously cheap (for the drivers), thats how its always been so I assumed everyone knew that by now. I guess not. As previously mentioned many times on this forum, drivers usually raise X sum (for random example £400k) and choose to pay their drive with all of that, or part of it and take a salary. from it. Some drives take less and buy themselves a better seat, others do vice versa. The best can do both because they are excellent commercially, or have family willing to do that all the way up to F1...

This is where the Dudman TBLs will head (along with some other assets IMO).

I wonder how much someone like a Napa or a Vertu are bringing to the table for title sponsorships? Are we in the millions or a lot less?

I assume when they stood down last year they forfeited all rights to these TBLs , so the fact they are on list is a statement of intent . They may of course emerge with a different name, which opens the door to the above , however most seem to think that Cooks future is intrinsically linked to a Dudman return and that is unlikely to happen if it’s simply a front for Vortx to enter .

I would guess NAPA at £500k to £750k - no more.

The whole TBL thing became a bit of a farce once entries stopped reaching the 30 mark.

Does the name, Lorraine Blundell, mean anything to anyone as she is the only officer of Vortx and controls more than 75% of the company. It's not Mark's wife name as far as I know, I think that's Deborah, and I believe that he only has sons.

Didn’t have much confidence in the Cupra then! Another good seat opens up there. Don’t think the article actually confirms Smiley but assumedly he’ll be staying.

If the budget makes sense surely it's a prime seat for Dan Lloyd? Drove for Norlin and obviously has race winning experience with the i30.

It would be good to see Lloyd in the team but it wouldn't be cheap, with the team presumably wanting to recoup some of the cost of buying two cars.

I wonder if Halstead could end up there? He knows the car well and could bring more of his sponsors than he could at EXCELR8? It wouldn't be great for the team's aspirations but if he can put together a deal and others can't...

Doesn’t tie up with all the previous conversations and interviews . They are clearly intending a driver who is proven to be a match for Smiley. Auto sport say the Smiley cupra is the one planned for the 2nd car at Unlimited , so if Vortx does materialise they must use the Sumpton car and one other from Patterson/Boardley .

So Cookie in a Cupra alongside Sumpton!?! It would be interesting to see what he could wring out of that car & develop it a bit more.
