[V8SC10R21&22] Falken Tasmania Challenge, Symmons Plains
Given the fun and frivolity, and genuine hard racing on the streets of the Gold Coast, the circus finds itself wandering down to the Symmons Plains circuit, for a resumption of single driver events.
Who will be competitive here? Will the #1 vs #18 battle continue, or are there others with claim to some speed? Perhaps #9 would be a good each way bet, the long straights count against the SBR engine, but the hairpin should be a treat |

What the SBR Engine is lacking in HP the Chassis is making up for in power down, the #9 should be in with a good showing again.
This is a strong track for JW and not so much for JC or Djr, could be where the title gets turned on it head i feel. |

Perhaps they should pay a fine and not bother turning up.....but seriously they should give a young driver a go rather than someone who's had a crack or 30 at it before. Get a few headlines with a bloke on debut.

I would have thought it more logical that Mr Van Gisbergen were to get the new chassis, and Mr Davison could enjoy the Gold Coast 2nd placed chassis..
Interesting that the article confirms that Mr Davison will still be at SBR next season too.... |

I dont know GTR, the engineer may have just said what he has been told to say, I would take any and all press releases about next year with a pinch of salt unless the title says DRIVER LINE UP WILL BE ....... 2011 OR WILL REMAIN AS .... FOR 2011

Friday - Late rain, northeastrely winds turning northwest mid afternoon.
Which means rain in the afternnon at Symmons plains, high cloud base initially and humid. Saturday - Morning rain, rain periods in the north, easterly winds Sunday - Rain, possibly south easterly wind. Interesting weekend. |

A couple of nice lines of thunderstorms starting in Bass Strait and finishing just south of the central highlands, will make todays practice session interesting. Possibility of heavy rain, or intermittent showers.
If a low forms in Bass Strait late Saturday night early Sunday morning, then Sundays weather will be anyone's guess including the Bureau of Met staff. Any number of possibilities including rain, strong south easterly winds or a day of light easterly winds and intermittent light rain. Off to the TAB, and few dollars on the Giz. Wet day could make the Touring Car masters qualifying an interesting outcome. |
