Such a shame there's no live streaming for practice sessions. Oh well. Is there anywhere better for timing than the WEC? I seem to remember some other site which I'm pretty sure had a number in the name, and which had better lap timing screens...

Obviously far too early (12 mins in) to draw any meaningful conclusions, and it's an LMP2 friendly track, but... the gap so far between Hypercar and LMP2, well - isn't.

That was it! Thanks Although it's not covering WEC, oh well. Impressed to see Dumas currently in first and second, in both the 7 & 8 Toyotas. He really is talented...

To paraphrase the late, great Murray Walker: “There are 7 former WEC winners in this field, and 4 of them are Romain Dumas.”

Teams seem to just be getting a handle on their cars early on and not trying to set fast times. Mostly doing a few laps and coming back to the pits in the Hypercar category.

Yeah, I would imagine for Glickenhaus especially (who won't have any previous track/setup data to reference I presume) this session is mainly about getting things solid, dialled in, finding a baseline to develop, and getting everyone a run out in the car. So far at least Hypercar and LM P2 pace seems very close, although that may well change .

alpine, toyota and best lmp2 in the same cup of tea according to FP1 results, hard to say how hard alpine and toyota pushed and if there is still that 1.5s of margin in a shorter track compared to spa. Good result for 007, just one second off the pace in their very first official session, by moments should be released the alkamel pdfs about top speeds, sectors times etc...

first sector lmh and lmp2 are close in a 0.2s range, second sector toyotas are 0.3s faster than best lmp2, in sector 3 alpine and best lmp2 are about 0.3s faster than toyotas.
007 seems >0.3s slower than best lmp2 in S1, in par with lmp2 and about 0.3s slower than toyotas in S2 and really slow in S3 0.7-0.8s away from alpine and best lmp2. I think the last and fast long right bend section is a real pain for LMH, for sure lighter and better aero cars like R13 and lmp2 are easily much faster there |

I don't think a 1 second gap to class leaders is bad at all. Interesting to see how fast the P2 cars are around there. Last year the top ELMS pole time was a 1:28, so indeed the cars are slower this year, but they are faster than the Hypercars!

The bop is killing the gaps between the top class and lmp2. But itll be interesting to see how it plays out over the weekend.

007 showing as stopped on live timing, presumably in third sector, with a full course yellow in place. Really hope it's nothing serious...!

According to their Insta, looks like some type of electrical issue they're trying to solve; should be good for FP3

Good to hear. Hopefully easy fix, electrical gremlins can be annoying.
You would expect the Hypercars have a little extra for Q, especially the Toyota. It’s going to be close. As will the beginning of the race. |

I guess it will be, normally is?
First year that I’ve not bought it for sometime, but the Eurosport coverage is working out very well. Ad free stream with Eurosport, but alas not free. |
