The first question I would ask is how do you know it is 128dB?

Although in answer to how do they get away with it - how does anyone get away with a crime? By not being caught.

There are measures in place though:

H0504 Procedure - Loud Exhaust Offences

Vehicle Certification Agency - 'Many vehicles produce lower levels of noise, and it is illegal to modify the exhaust system of a vehicle to make it noisier than the level recorded for that model at type approval.'

Noise cameras and reporting loud cars

I would also guess that the 'pop n bang polo' brigade are not getting anywhere near 128dB.

Back to the BTCC though - 115dB is in the rock concert level of volume, so more than enough for motorsport.

I'm sure you're right.

IIRC the 20,000 rpm F1 V8s were about PEAK 140db, so I'm doubting any road car could get to 128db!

psq43 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
I suspect the 8 cylinders surrounded by modified bits would help. I was surprised too when that was the test result, but the tester said he'd done louder road cars.

Hopefully there'll be an announcement, or pre announcement announcement shortly, to get people back on topic, rather than what comes out of an exhaust

Screeching back on topic, Dynamics lost a lot of key engineering personnel since introducing the FK8 so in my opinion their issue has been replacing those with top-tier engineers, not a cheap task. Unlocking the potential in the car seems to have been a big problem the last 2 years, BTC and Josh Cook figured it out.

Talking of the price for a btcc car. When I was vip with power maxed racing at Snetterton last season I got Talking with owner Adam weaver about if they bringing in a new car for 23. He said its a possibility but we need an extra 500k for them to be built

Also lower limits are to be introduced by 2026. For newer cars.

Also you need police to actually stop and prosecute drivers with excessively loud exhausts.

Most road cars will be louder that 74 when measured in the 'motorsport' way. I'm sure my 1.9TDI Ibiza was over 80 standard.

Looking at their inconsistent session last year and Plato's comments about lack of straight line speed, I'm not sure BTC got to the bottom of it either. Since it was introduced, it's been inconsistent and never been quite good enough

They've had the shell for a while. It's only recently been built back up.

TD are still active across social media channels, promoting BTCC, Shedden and Halfords as well as registered with two TBLs, so everything points to an entry at this stage.

They are a shadow of the former championship winning team! Maybe they have lost key engineers/Staff. I think loosing Cammish was a big loss aswell.

They also need to refresh there social media, It's as if it is on a timeloop, Resting on the past and nothing new. Even Team Hard have much better social media

They didn’t “lose” Cammish they showed him the door mid contract to make room for Rowbottom’s money - and then lost Yuasa as a result - oops

If there’s a plum Seat going at Dynamics shall we start the Rob Huff rumour once again? Gets on well with both Neal and Shedden.

Unless there’s a big paycheck for Huff out of it I’m not sure he’s fussed, though I would very much like to see it. Was actually testing on the TCR UK test day today.
