Honda Leave BTCC

Hi all,

I don't know how the Shropshire Star got hold of this, but one of their main sports headlines today, "Shock as Honda decides to pull out".

I don't know a great deal about this, as it came up in conversation with a Buddy on MSN who is from the area, but apparently the story goes on to say about Team Dynamics buying the teams cars and equiptment, and Honda saying they will not return?!

This would also give substance to the Rummor that Matt Neal will not be driving for Honda, since according to this, Honda will not run.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

I don't know if this is any help...but over the last month or so ive been trying get a sponsorship deal with Arena motorsport, all looked well until they told me (only a matter of weeks ago) Honda were not interested due to other `motorsport arrangments`

What ever that mean't I don't know, but as this has just come into the air I have a feeling that this `motorsport arrangment` might mean no to the BTCC, but more money will be put into there F1 challenge...

hang on!!!! Didn't Honda say at Oulton Park that they were going to make over 50 changes to next years car? Im sure Honda-Racing/Arena Motorsport wouldn't had said that if they knew they were pulling out for next year?

As I understood it there will NOT be any works Honda Civics next year.

There will, however, be at least two Accords... I'll guess we'll just have to wait and see what actually happens though!

How do you know about these accords? which team? Could the works team be swaping to accords or is it varta (i hope not thought we'd seen the last of that ancient accord)

Seems like we could be literally back to the good old days, vauxhall with vectras and honda with accords, come on ford!!

basically the article says that honda have decided not to enter in 2004 and also that steve neal, had brought "both" the honda works cars and hopes to run a 2 car team under his team dynamics banner.

It is still not confirmed but I have heard it from two completely independant sources so far. One says 'evaluating some Accords' the other says 'very likely to switch to Accords'

Of course plans could change and they might go with neither... only time will tell!

Spotted it posted on btccpages Honda were supposed to be making a decision on the drivers for next year, last week? So that'd confirm they'll be back surely.
