Ian should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Help would be GREATLY appreciated

Hello to anyone reading this message.

Firstly can I explain that I am a complete novice to the world of motorsports. However, I am currently conducting an investigation into he forth comming 2004 UKFFC.

Before you think "bl**y student..." , please read on as this investigation is integral to my graduation.

Basically, I have to investigate the championship from the perspective of someone wanting to enter in the next available season, all hypotheticlly though I may add. At present I have been in touch with Barbara Armstron the co-ordinator of FF, and she has been extremely helpfull, getting me the 2004 tech regs, historical contexts etc etc

What I am really having trouble with is some of the more hands on information that you can only really get from knowing the sport. Things along the lines of how many test days you have, how long they last, how you would go about getting everything set up....etc etc

As you can probably appreciate, I need a first hand account of these thngs as it is not the sort of thing you can find out on the internet or in books.

If there is any kind soul, who has a good background knowledge of this championship and is willing to answer a few questions when need be, it would be greatly greatly appreciated.

I have only two months left to finish the investigation, and with only a very very small budget so I wouldnt be much of a bother...

Thanks for taking the time to read my message.

kind regards,

Ian

Hi Ian,

I'm not an expert but I am a Marshal!
You might have some success in contacting a FF championship coordinator.

If I might point you in the direction of www.brsccnw.com have a look at the link to the Champion of Oulton pages.
The NW coordinator is a chap called Ian Smith who might be able to answer some questions!

Alternatively do a search of users on here and seek out Mike M.

Send him a Private Message - he is a NWFF competitor and marshal.

Hope this helps!!

Mark

Why don't you approach a team or driver and go along to a test day with them to get a feel for what really goes on? You say you have a budget, so if you can pay your own expenses I'm sure they won't mind having you observing the proceedings...

Thanks very much observer.

I must say this site is an absolute blessing, I have had some really positive feedback via pm also. I wish I had found it earlier !!

I have found some decent information on some earlier posts also, but obviously the more info i get the better.

Any other suggestions or tips that you can give me no matter how small in detail will always be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Ian

Thanks Mark for the plug, but I think Ian needs help on the UKFFC [National Zetec] as it is this he is studying. Perhaps Mackmot - a prolific poster with an indepth knowledge of Zetecs - would be a better bet.
Having said that, the basic concepts are the same in the FF1600 world, just a lot cheaper, so if Ian wants a chat, my number is on the website.
I suggest Ian takes himself along to his local circuit and 'mingles'. The National Calendar is on Barbara's website and all the club FF stuff can be found on brscc.co.uk

I think it might be useful for you if you email me as if you are a real driver. Ask me for a quote and whats included etc then ask me questions about what it means when I reply.

Email me at mackmot@hotmail.com

We've done the series in both scholarship and championship class - if you're still looking for input from a driver/dad perspective pm me.
