AR-CoolC should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Why are touring cars called touring cars?

One of those tough questions from a 5 year old.

My daughter whilst distraught at not being able to watch her programs whilst I watched the touring cars yesterday asked me "why are they called touring cars"

Well I couldn't really answer her, as the cars generally used in touring cars are family cars, and the only reference to touring in the world of cars are Grand Tourers (GT's) or BMW tourings (estates )

So does anyone know the history of the term "touring cars"?
