List is up to 18 at the moment with a massive amount of bookings from Oz. They seem really keen to travel. Not tried to contact any European Championships yet. Had no interest at all from US or Canada but I guess they are not keen to go to the gulf!!!

If we can get the list to 30+ then I will work on the plan but not going to do much else until then. I will need to get £500 deposits from interested parties that will only be refunded if the event doesn't take place. This means I will be able to plan without people pulling out at the last minute.

If it works out then great if not then at least we are trying to get FF1600 back on the map.

Sounds fantastic value. When will the deposit be required?

when it looks like 30+ drivers can be signed up then I will finalise everything. I am trying to do a deal on the shipping at the moment as that is the main cost - between £1,400 and £2,000 a car with spares. I would hope to get a sponsor to cover some of the expences. The package will include a variety of hotels -either near the circuit or on the beach (beach hotels are about 30 - 40mins from the circuit) they will all be 5*

I spoke to Peter Hackett this morning. He is very keen, mainly because the location is a handy source for all the oil he will need!!!
His words, not mine.

They will have lots of sand to soak it up and he will need lots of Dirhams for the fines.

It gets upto 40c with no rain in December so our rubber will not last long plus we can get 5 star petrol cheap.

I've been there quite a few times and I don't know about 40 centigrade in December. More like 25...

Good point Dave not sure? Who do I ask?

Will it be the event organiser or the circuit?

If it is the same for Spa then a National A will be okay. But I really would check before you go...

Chris. Another good one might be to get some backing of parts suppliers. Ken at Universal etc. See if they would supply parts on Sale or Return for the cars in exchange for some car coverage. It would be a shame to go all the way to Dubai and shunt it in the first session with no spares package................

Just a thought..................

If the Aussies are coming don't forget their entire car is either alloy or fibreglass!

Why not do the transport one way only - half price? Sell the cars while you are over there and Dubai will have a fleet of race ready cars to start their own series.
I might even stay over there to set it up.
clubff1600 could then add another region. "Dubai" 'Coming Soon'

This was the main talking point at Combe today. Several people interested (but for some only a pipe dream).

The licence thing needs to be resolved, and some parties think that the shipping costs could perhaps be reduced. Overall, a lot of positive comments.

A lot of positive (and unsolicited) comments about the website as well. A lot of people commented to Matt and myself how good it was without even knowing I had any connection to it. So it is good to see that the efforts of Matt and others are appreciated.

If we can get the shipping price right then that would open the flood gates for entries..... It will be run on a first come first served basis.

Looks like a Festival may be looming.

Brands on a cold wet October? Or Dubai on a hot, sunny December day?????????

Decisions...decisions....

I think anyone that looks at the Brands Festival seriously are in the region of at least a grand for the weekend, so the cost of Dubai doesn't seem to bad. Not when you get a week there as well...

Hope it happens. Since the Festival went to Zetecs it has pretty much made it a European (UK?) event. The Aussies used to go over there with their own cars so maybe an unofficial World FF1600 Cup into neutral teritory will be good thing. The top Aussies will dominate though!
