Formula Ford driver from a while back
Interesting question - might be more suited to historic, but I'll ask here first as it's not that long ago.
Does anyone remember an FF driver who drove for Duckhams called John Franks? |

I thought it might have been someone my dad told me about a while back who raced in the mid 70's and won the Golden Helmet (or its counterpart) back then. However, a quick phone call confirms its not! Soz.

The name doesn't ring any bells with me, but if anybody should know, Comtec Renault is your man, or maybe professional FF knowledgemeister - Mackmot.

There was a guy called Frank Johns who was the marketing manager for Duckhams around that time, but he was never a driver.

No it's definitely John Franks. Apparently his claim to fame is he once drove Nigel Mansell round Brands in a 2 seater F1 car......... about 12 years ago.

12 years ago the two seater would have been the McLaren I guess. It was after that when Arrows and Minardi got there's on the road IIRC

I found in a old Duckhams Quest magazine information about British film actor John Finch for his debut as a formula ford driver at Brands Hatch.
He drove for a new team, TEAM NEASRADER, serviced by Forge Garage of Worchester Park, Surrey and sponsored by Duckhams. Regards, Henk A. Hazelaar Netherlands |
