The announcement is great news for Tom and Speedworks, it will end the rumours about will they/won't they raise the budget. |

Even a relatively minor involvement can be a massive help, for example sharing CAD models and being able to get parts directly out of suppliers

im talking about their 1 car BTCC operation, unless your suggesting there are legs in the idea and they are dropping LMP3 plans and aspirations to cart and old Avensis and any number of spares round the country for Jason Plato to sit in?

Great news for Speedworks and Tingram and well done Toyota for rewarding them for seasons of hard work. They know it makes sense. Obviously running one car means they are not trying to run before they can walk. Running a new car will be tough, but they should be alright. Good luck to them in 2019

Agreed, they have. Production was run down prior to stop earlier this year. They tend to last though - the diesels are good for 300k if looked after. The Auris wagon hybrid and Prius have taken some of the mini cab business too being cleaner.

BTC maybe but ain't cheap, so depends how many of his sponsors he's still got. Motorbase are full unless they get another TBL for a 3rd car, but Bartie has said JP would never drive one of his cars. AmD are close with their 'preferred' drivers and he's not one. So only leaves PMR or the two newest teams or if he's got a new team set up for himself?!? Would Gow 'loan' him a TBL or 2?

and let's not forget he must be very hungry for 4 extra wins to reach 100 so IMO it has to be PMR or BTC Norlin unless it's a new team

Motorbase havent confirmed anything so far, I understand Chilton has made noises suggesting he has a drive but nothing official. I've not heard anything from James Cole and dare I say we haven't heard from Sam Tordoff Last I saw they were testing all manner of drivers for different things, some as prize winners from other series but also Ollie Jackson of all people, (who has since implied elsewhere he has sponsors to enable him to step up a level) nothing confirmed tho. Bartie also says a lot |

I think Tordoff might be back st WSR, he had a much stronger performance there than at Motorbase. Or maybe he won’t be back at all, I don’t see him as a given.

I would be interested to see if Plato ends up at Excelr8.
They're already making noises about bigger plans in 2020 (new car?) And certainly are no strangers to building a superb racecar from scratch (see MINI Challenge). Could be Plato's new opportunity to bring in a new manufacturer? Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk |

tbh ive seen nothing from Exeler8 since the initial press release.
I can see the logic for JP to go there, but at his age/point in his career, after 2 years doing naff all, im thinking now he will want to be straight back at the sharp end. |

A year running in the MG, passing his breadth of experience to the team and developing a new motor on the side might float the boat. Moulding a team around his way of working and a new car around his way of driving...

Yeah, but he confesses he has no motivation when he is running down in 17th place or whatever. He just wants a car he can win with
