Bmw Z4

(right, having server troubles, but try again...)

Good. I was posting about the Enzo earlier and I thought "hey, there's another maligned new sports car that I think looks great!!"

So here it is. I reckon it's the epitome of great new car design - bold and fabulous. Agree??

I agree.

The 7 series inspired new 'family' front end doesn't exactly fit on the front of a 2 door sports car.

Rest of it's fab though.

i quite like the front end's lines, around the bonnet and the lights. it looks a bit odd though.

Nope. It's metal-folding for the sake of it. The side especially looks as though it's had something big slap into it.

There's no consistency of line to it. Sorry.

Its headlights look too far forward or too small.
Looks miles better than the Z3 which its replacing though.
But for that price of car there are much more exotic and faster cars out there.

I like the Z4 but not the Enzo in the metal but the Z4 doesn't translate to pictures very well.

The ONLY bit I'm not keen on is the front wheel arch. But that's it!!

Mechanically, I love it. The rear end looks great. The interior's wonderful. But the front and side styling is a crime!

Nope.

The rear looks great - kind of a mini Faz 550.

The front looks ordinary.

From the side, the front's too high, and I don't like the conflicting angles of the crease that continues the A-pillar to the wheel arch and the follow-through of the doorline to the wheelarch.

And the way the BMW badge is set in the front quarter also looks ordinary.

Want a two-door Beemer, save up a bit more for the 330Ci - or even more for the M3.

Want a 2 door BMW, that is 2002, four door? That's 1800.

That is an ugly car. BMW really should know better, that's the sort of thing i'd expect from the Koreans, overstyled to buggery. A great artist knows when to put the pen down and walk awy. It is done, these guys just didn't know when to stop.

The front isn't very sporty, the back is too busy and i defy anyone to sit and count ALL of the design features/cues on the side.

The pics all look good to me but I finally saw the real thing this weekend and it's only OK in person IMHO. And I'm a BMW freak.

The other thing I don't understand is that they had a sweepstakes in the US offered to current BMW owners. The winner was to receive the first car in the US. It has an automatic transmission. What were they thinking?
