2017 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour: Apr 14-16

Wow, hasn't this race gathered some serious momentum? 2017 approaching its grid maximum of 72 cars including Mustangs on it's way. Epic!

6 Hour entry list already at 64!

There's been more than 72 entries lodged. They just haven't all paid yet.

But with 4 months still to go I think it will get close which will be pretty cool.

Good isn't it?

The strong entry is probably an indication that the 12 hour was just a bit too long and too expensive for some but 6 hours can be managed.

Good format.

is the list of eligible vehicles a bit more open than in the past. Quite a few Ford AU's on that list that didnt race in the 12 hour

I imagine its in much the same vain as the Nurburgring 24 Hour who allow such things in as Mal Rose's 10 year old V8 Supercar.

When the proddies had the 12hr from 2007-2010 they generally had close to a full grid (which at the time was capped at 55)

Its a good thing when our very best motor racing facility is being used more than once a year, with full grids.

The genesis of the Bathurst 6hr is from the NSW Production Touring Car Championship, of which AU Falcon's and VT Commodore's are eligible

An early 90s vintage Mazda Astina & E36 BMWs have competed in the Australian Production Car Championship in recent times, so I don't think there is.

Without much factory support, there is little point in turning away perfectly good cars just because they aren't new. The 12hr is allowing an old RX7SP next year afterall

I don't have a problem with then running in the event I was just a bit surprised to see so many from that age group. If there are any spare grid spots maybe they could invite some HQs as well.

That would be correct. Also, the other car is owned by Nathan Morcom's dad so if Mostert is coming back this year he might well be in that car with Nathan.

Argh, the owner of the Airbnb we booked rang this afternoon to let me know they have rented out their property privately.......but they'll happily refund our money.

Any suggestions?
