I knopw someone who converted a 4 door MK1 Cortina to a 2 door . . . . definitely a lot more work than just going to work for a few weeks to earn the bit extra for a 2 door, even the roof needs changing.
the 1300 is a fantastic engine though, it would be a fun car |

From the commentary on one of the videos the strong suggestion was that it was a pattern part. As were the sills they ended up not using ... |

If my experience of Cortina is anything to go by, it's much easier, and cheaper, to Invest time and funds on the best original shell you can. ZA is the place for escorts and Cortinas.
None of the front running cars are 'restored' shells. |

They might have used the Anglebox van one as I seem to remember it was wider ? however the beach bars have affected my memory over the years

Broadspeed used the 105E axle to start with as they copied over a lot of stuff from their previous angleboxes, and from memory it was narrower meaning they could get wider tyres in the standard arches. Everything changed when the bubble arches were homologated. They did run a couple of cars for at least one race with bubble arches on the front and none on the rear. Think Jackie Stewart was famously in one at the ‘Ring...... Looks odd nowadays!

I emailed a friend who used to work for Broadspeed back in the day and he's just emailed me back.
"They used the early Escort axle tube with Brabham wheels. No offset, all inset. No rear wheel arches and front arches were Transit 35 cwt (1.75 tons to those born more recently). They ran disc brakes on the rear on the later cars but drums on the early ones. Then changed to small Escort front discs on the rear - the centres were machined out to locate on to the half shaft." I know this doesn't match what's already been said. |

I have a customer restoring the 66 Broadspeed Anglia . . . . it still has all its original rear suspension on it . . . It clearly worked so I'd be surprised if the early Escorts were any much, if at all, different.

I can still remember watching- and hearing- the 997cc Broadspeed Anglias at Snetterton. The engine note was more a scream than anything else! |

On the subject of rear suspension, we finally have Tornado parts made which won't fall to bits and are the same both sides!
As usual tenths turns my photos upside down! |

Time wise yes. Cost wise, not so, although I have sold 3 other sets, which helps.
To be honest, the cars useless for anything other than pottering without a proper upgrade, so 'relatively' cheap, and certainly cheaper than repairing a car if the worst happened. Somewhat unfashionably, we haven't made everything from titanium and copied the geometry from a dynamic 3d computer model so it'll still be slower than a 'modern' lotus elite, for example. |

At Oulton Park this year we had someone go off into the tyres in one of the Delta FF2000 cars. He managed to loose the fuel filler cap. Here is a picture and two Morris 1000 caps next to it . They are to small. Any ideas. The cars were built in the mid to late 70's.I can easily chop the top of and fit a screw top but I kind of thought it would be nice to find a cap. Thanks in advance. lain.
