Well, all I can say is - if he keeps driving like that, we (F1 fans in general) have something to look forward.
He went off - so what??? It's his third race in F1, and, if nothing else, he is not afraid to take his chance to make it worth! |

His moves weren't polished, but this was partly due to the dust off line. He had a go and had a go safely. Great stuff very good for race 3.

I was fuming when he was hired ahead of WIlson, feelign that he wasn't ready for F1, and the Red Bull money got him the drive. I'm prepared to now admit that I under-estimated him.
Although Kimi was running heavier than Klien, and Webber and DC were close in the respective sister cars, it was very impressive to see a youngster make so many well-planned aggressive moves, and knowing when to back out. It's a pity his start was again poor. The rookies showing well in Bahrain is partly down to it being a new track, where no one is at the advantage of knowing it from past experience. Hopefully the same thing will happen in China. |

Klien knew he had a great chance to show his abilities on this new-to-everyone track and he did it WELL!!
Well done son! |

All i can say is Well Done Klien, impressive performance all weekend. Made the most of the circumstances, and proved that on an equal footing (new track etc) he deserves his seat. Not that i wouldn't prefer to see Wilson in it though. Anyway, moving on, Klien has proved his doubters (including myself I'm happy to admit) wrong .

That being said, Klien's spirit certainly did impress yesterday, and I hope with some experience his passing and racecraft will improve more... keep it up, Klien! Last edited by shiny side up!; 5 Apr 2004 at 11:45. |

Great stuff from Klien. The moves may not have stuck, and it was a bit raw at times, but he had pace all weekend - remember this is a new track, so his disadvantage of being a rookie is erased in terms of track knowledge, so it can give a better picture of his pace relative to others than more established circuits.
But let's not fall into the media trap, let's not build him up for a fall. We should remember this is only one race, and he's just a kid - I'd hate the hype to destroy him before he's even started. He seems confident though - if he shows that level of skill again and again, and the maturity to play the long game then he could be a future star. |

By the way, if I was Jaguar and Klien still looks this good in July, I'd announce a new two year contract at Silverstone...

I was glad to see him doing well as it means all may not be lost if Webber does take off to Williams or the like next year.

good on him! Klien showed that hes got the stuff to drive at this level which I will readily admit I didn't think he had, I thought he was a pay driver just bringing redbull money but he can actually drive he wasn't giving up, but he also wasn't going at it so hard as tocause them both to wreck a delicate balance

People who think Klein's moves that didn't come off weren't all that clever, because he pushed it too far and couldn't make them stick, so they don't count. And I can understand that.
But to me, he eventually did get Kimi a good one and each time he took a crack, he was setting himself up for a better shot the next time about. Learning his limits off line, and psychologically making Kimi keep his eyes on the rear view mirror, slowing him down. Sure, some 'proper' or 'skillful' drivers might have waited and made it stuck in one attempt. But to me, a courage to risk a failed move is worth much more when you're that far back. You know that when his pace gets up there, he'll have some dogfighting experiance. And the bosses will see he's willing to have a red-hot go rather than just wait behind because he's 'not sure' he could make it stick. Klien today was willing to risk failure to see if he can make it work. And I feel that's worthy. At least we know at those points in time, he couldn't possibly have done any more. If he hadn't, we and even he might have thought back to those previous chances and wondered if he might have? If Kimi had braked early enough, if there was indeed enough grip. |

Oh yeah, I loved Klien's move on Massa too. Absolute spear inside. Dunno how it was exactly now but I can remember thinking he'd perhaps caught Massa napping or something because he did it pretty well.

Klien was sensational this weekend, and his finishing position relative to Marks was not a fair indictation of his efforts.
I was extremely impressed with him. Most rookies are told to finish races, and the last thing they would want to be doing is trying to mix it with a MacLaren. But in he went, well done |

As I said before the season started, there is something feral about him - I suspect he is a little crazy which is a good thing! Great show on sunday with Kimi. RACING! |

It was great to see passing in F1, does not really matter who it is. The fact that it is rookie Klien is all the better, hopefully he will be in the sport for a long time to entertain us!
I think my favorite comment was from on of the commentators taht compared him to a puppy, chasing a ball and constantly overshooting it...... TJ |
