It has done a few laps. We don't get the detail pics like we do from a launch, but it is running.

It is warmer elsewhere!

These days launches are quite restrained (excess is seen as bad, so no more Spice Girls!). They like to take the covers off and then roll it out onto a nearby track. It is probably snowing at Silverstone at the moment, so Barcelona or Valencia seems much more civilised.

Firstly this specific thing isn't racing it is winter testing. And they want to test where they can get in a lot consistent running - even more important with a new car. They are doing this so they are better at racing. Also (circuit) racing normally happens where it is sunny so that the fans can enjoy the racing more.

There is racing in the snow, but the choice here is betwen testing in the snow pointlessly or testing in sunshine constructively.

Renault launch their car officially with livery the day after Williams. I'm looking to forward to Minardi and Red Bull launches, as I will be there in Melbourne!

I wasnt talking about the testing, ofcourse thats got to be done where they can run the cars...I was talking about the press launch of the new cars. Afew teams are based in the UK and I cant see why they cant launch the new cars here.

The reason for launching at Valencia or wherever is so the car can be out on the track immediately - which makes sense.

Also it isn't that much of a problem for the British Press to get to these places. The Renault launch is actually in Monaco and they are flying the journalists out from Stanstead and coming back in the same day. I guess Renault are following your suggestion, except the parent company is French.

Williams this week is just before the car hits the track (or while the car hits the track!).
