The whole point in a young driver program is start with a large pool and filter it down. That's why you put them together. One wins, the other loses. One gets a Mercedes DTM drive and the promise that one day he'll get to visit Lewis Hamilton, or see Bottas. The other gets dropped and goes to Formula E.

Except: sometimes they both lose. * Liuzzi/Speed * Vettel/Bourdais * Buemi/Alguersuari * Ricciardo/Vergne * Verstappen/Sainz (In this instance you could argue both eventually won) * Gasly/Hartley |

They didn't.
I think you misinterpreted my post. I just posted a list of the driver pairings they had in the last few years. Of these driver pairings there was (almost) always at least 1 loser (except Sainz). It's obvious that the winners were Vettel - Ricciardo - Verstappen and Gasly. At least, I thought that was obvious |

Williams have told Mercedes, if you want the second seat for Ocon, then find us a title sponsor. Mercedes is working behind the scenes to make this happen, and there's some talk of a current Mercedes powered team's sponsor maybe switching over.
So no drive for Kubica if this happens then. Very disappointing. |

I think we're probably all curious, however we're all looking back to the past rather than the future with Robert, I feel....

Well as this thread is actually about him, as has been reported elsewhere, Bob The Pole is in a race seat for Williams next year.

It's official now. Let's see how 8 seasons without racing in F1 will make a difference to his obvious talent

Even somebody at his age with the past 8 seasons IN F1 would be in the twilight of their career!
However good luck to him. |

exactly - i think we're all pleased to see robert make a proper return but a bit disappointed it's at the cost of younger and arguably better drivers.

Just changing the deckchairs on the Titanic....will trundle around the back of the grid and struggle to finish races on Williams current form.
